Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
When I was suicidal many years ago the suicide prevention hotline had commercials on TV that said "It's a permanent solution to a temporary problem". It is true. You may not actually be suicidal right now but please keep this saying in mind anyway because everything is temporary - even our time here on this planet so why rush getting off of it?
Please know you have choices. You can leave your wrecked marriage. You can get another job. You can go to another Dr. to see what can be done for your disc prolapse. There are always choices.
Please hang in there.

People who do not explicitly designate themselves as theists, may not be. And if one is not a theist your post is extremely annoying and destructive. Keep your delusions to yourself.
estranged78, yes you can get through this. I was in a very destructive relationship for a while, and I also recently lost two Grandparents and my Dad within the space of three years. I have been through a period of intense anxiety, but I'm coming out the other side of it now. The solution to these issues lies within you, and there are plenty of people who can support you in your efforts, both on forums like this and in your local community. It sounds to me like you should try and speak to a professional in the first instance who could help you make a plan to deal with the issues you are facing.
Please don't give up or lose heart, you can get better.

Help is what is asked for, not judgement. Help is positive, and for this, live for yourself. You are valuable, just as you are, right now.
Having anxiety gives us a pattern of certain thoughts that can spiral into a challenging position. That same spiral can go outwards, and you can touch someone else with hope, which in turn helps you heal as well.
Best wishes, you are not alone. The circle of life includes death. Like the seasons, spring brings birth, summer, growth and blooming and fall brings back to the roots, and winter, sleep and rest.

Do you have an ipod/iTunes? There are many podcasts of meditations that are free and they are really very good. You can also download some from Amazon onto your phone if you have a phone that you can do that with. Many are inexpensive and you may be able to find a free one there too. I have found guided meditations to be great at helping me relax. If you try them I hope you find them helpful too.
Take care

When I first started practicing meditation I started with a guided mediation because it held my attention and prevented me from getting caught up in my own thoughts. And when I did, there is usually a part in the meditation where they say "If a thought comes into your mind and you find yourself focusing on it, push it aside and come back to my voice". This does take practice before you can catch the thought and push it aside successfully. But, when you do get the hang of it it's wonderful to be able to simply think "I don't want to focus on that now" and push it aside. It's so freeing.
Good luck with it and good luck at the Dr. I have not been on the meds you mention, I was on Paxil. Sometimes it takes a few weeks for the initial side affects to wear off but if it has been longer than this and you are still experiencing them you may want to switch meds. Not every med works for every person because our chemical makeup is different. (P.S. Paxil also intensified my dreams)
It is very possible that your Dr. is already doing CBT with you. Any time your Dr. suggests that you change your thinking or that you look at a situation differently they are using CBT. So if you have said to your Dr. "I can't leave the house when I am anxious" they may say to you "You CAN leave the house. It will be scary but it is possible for you to leave the house. Nothing is preventing you from leaving except your own fear". This is CBT. It's changing the negative thought (I can't) to a positive one (I can). The more often you change it the more you believe it and the more often the positive thought will come first. It does work. Next time you are with your Dr. see if this verbal exchange happens. If it does then you know CBT is at work.
Keep us posted on how you are doing! :-)

theraoist says i need to prioritize things and tackle em one by one , first in the list is my mental health she says..
has given me a 6 weeks time to stabilise my self ..
then deal with my physical ailment( Disc prob) , then my wrecked marital issue.. but has asked me to introspect into the issue again ..
have started a bit of meditation also. but still feeling a lot worried ( is it my nature i ponder )

any experience with self hypnosis any body? Thanks a lot LuckyEmpath ur advice is so much apt.. please motivate me to get over this and help me segregate my life tasks..
regards
I have done self hypnosis and hypnosis with a therapist. I prefer to do it with a therapist because I get so much more out of it. Many of my issues are deep-seeded and go back to childhood so doing the hypnosis on my own was not going to work. But, I do think the self hypnosis is good for getting rid of bad habits (i.e. smoking, overeating, poor self image, etc).
Keep us posted! :-)
i am trying to do some introspection , but should learn to creatively do it rather than worry..
As u said LuckyEmpath i should sit down and plan wat will i be doing for the coming 6 weeks , each day , each week : writing them in a journal will help a lot i guess
i had attended a self hynosis program long back and also have a book , just picked it up today and read a bit , i want to make some positive affirmations through self hypnosis
