I have similar issues. I'm finding that focusing on myself helps because I am helping me. It's refreshing to be able to spend time with and for myself.
At times in life we tend to do more for others and get involved with many other things. We can calm down while focusing what is best for ourselves. I hope this was helpful.

Sorry you are having a difficult time. I find when my anxiety is high that lots of things seem overwhelming. Something as simple as watching TV feels like too much stimuli. Try to take some deep breaths to settle yourself. I agree with others that getting outside for fresh air is helpful. If you take the time to look around and see other things/people that can be very grounding.
What helps to calm things down for me is to remind myself that all I have to do is take things one day at a time, or one hour at a time or even one minute at a time if I’m feeling really stressed.
