Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Since my last post my anxiety has completely spiraled out of control. Two days ago I ended up at urgent care. Scratching my head, bouncing my leg, feeling like I couldn't breathe, crying, fidgety the whole day. Looking back it's like it built up. The heart palpitations, insomnia, worrying, intrusive thoughts. I was prescribed hydroxyzine and set a follow up to try and find medicine.....AGAIN. I wanted so much to be able to manage without medicine but it doesn't seem so. Feeling like you are dying everyday or constantly worrying isn't living. The medicine is helping me to sleep at night and I do feel a little calmer. I still feel the shortness of breathe and anxiousness come in waves and it still scare me. Just trying to have hope. I hate putting my kids and my husband through this.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

Hydroxyzine is a very old, basic, safe med that is now the go-to for anxiety and related problems. It's actually one of the first generation antihistamines and thus very similar to diphenhydramine (Benadryl) but it is longer-acting and less anticholinergic, meaning it doesn't make your brain as foggy to put it simply. I have lots of hydroxyzine but personally I prefer the diphenhydramine since it's faster acting and also shorter acting. The former seems to keep my groggy for over 24 hours though the latter does make me a little loopy if I take 3 or more at one time which I do not recommend unless you know what you're doing and have experience with such.
The hydroxyzine is now the go-to because doctors are extremely wary of giving benzos like Xanax, Valiums, and the like for lots of good reasons.
It definitely pays to do your research on any meds you are prescribed and know yourself and how you respond to certain types. Knowledge is power.
I am bipolar 1 and I hate putting my kids and wife through all that I have put them through as well. That's a great start for you, readytolive. Count yourself as extremely fortunate that you are able to understand that and care enough to do something about it.
I hope you find relief. I understand how hard it can be to even minimally function at times and the toll it takes on family members around you. My strong Christian faith has helped me greatly to deal with each day.
