Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hey everyone. I've been struggling with anxiety for what feels like my entire life.
I am out of hope. I work so hard to build what I want and then whenever I get it, my worry and fear cause me to ruin it.
Does anyone else experience this?
After two toxic relationships I finally found a really healthy one... the men of my dreams. No one ever treated me so well and made me feel so loved.
We made it 6 months without a single argument. We were in bliss. Loving together peacefully despite being new, through COVID.
But once we hit 6 months and I started to feel safe, I could no longer control my worrisome thoughts. Despite him changing his entire life to be with me- I still worried that he didn't love me as much as I loved him and that things would not work out.
I started arguments over the things I worried about and blamed his behaviors as the littles thing would trigger this debilitating thought process. All the while, I knew I was not being logical at all but I could not seem to ever control the thoughts as I would wrestle with them and then would have to communicate them to him.
I knew that this would cause unnecessary fighting and ultimately create the very thing that I didn't want.
I didn't see it coming because the rest of the time was so perfect. But he broke up with me yesterday. He says I am not laid back enough... I am sooo devastated. I searched for this guy for sooo long. And I know that when I am not like this, I am his dream girl. But his peace has been threatened and he is scared.
i don't want to be like this. I've lost all hope at this point. This constantly happens.
My friends want me to see a doctor and try meds but I have been down that road before and it usually does not work and makes me worse.
I am at a loss... I am not seeing the point in trying anymore. I work so hard and always end up back here.
Any insight / thoughts / advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
If you are not up for meds, then skip that and get a therapist. Get someone professional to talk with and help.
Sorry again.
There are so many kinds of anxiety medications now. You might want to try that route again. Make an appointment with a psychiatrist. They can help you with what meds to take. They could help you with a therapist referral, too.
You are not alone. It is tough living with anxiety.
You are responsible for what you say, do, react, respond and when you change your response to improve your well-being, it will change others' response as their usual will no longer fit.
A break-up in a relationship - and your acknowledgement that you have unresolved feelings from memories.
I would suggest writing in a private journal daily to help you figure out what is happening in your thoughts.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
I’m so sorry. Break-ups are hard. I’ve been there and I know that it’s not easy. I hope you are feeling a little better today.
Try to consider therapy. It will help you with your anxiety and the break-up. It’s also helpful if you have someone you can talk to, someone you can trust and listen to what you are going through. And also, please feel free to post here. It will help you to feel less lonely.
Try also to write down your feelings in your journal, it will be helpful. It’s like talking to a friend. Whenever I go through different emotions, I write down my feelings and it brings me comfort after I jotted everything down. I hope it will work for you as well.
I pray that things will go well with you. Keep us posted.
I admit I’m exactly the same when it comes to relationships, and I’m constantly trying to figure out the root cause of why so I can change it.
I’m currently on anti depressants which I was prescribed because of my anxiety, however someone mentioned on a post of mine that actually certain medications can make things worse.
They help with my anxiety attacks not being so overwhelming but the thoughts and triggers and emotions are still there.
So if you do go on medication, I would definitely suggest counselling as well, I must admit in all this time I have been scared to try it myself, which is why I’ve always wanted to do couples counselling at the time, but once covid has relaxed I want to try and seek out someone to talk to on a regular basis, cos it’s the only thing I haven’t tried.
I’m really sorry he’s broken up with you, I’ve made the mistake that after a break up I’ve got with someone else before sorting myself out and then it just happens again, so please learn from my mistake.
Did this guy know you suffer with anxiety? Cos even though he seemed like the perfect guy, I’ve learnt that I definitely would need someone who could be understanding and supportive if my anxiety flares up. So please don’t be too hard on yourself some people can’t cope with anxiety but others can.
My best friend who is a guy has recently got engaged to a lovely girl who suffers with extreme anxiety and he treats her amazingly and is very supportive and I see that and think there are people out there who would be able to stand by me even in bad times. And even though I know I’ve got to get better, that gives me hope too.
So don’t give up on finding happiness. Cos you really just never know what’s around the corner.
For the self-sabotage, making amends, or at least attempting to make amends, is my most effective therapy tool. Whether I am able to repair the damage or not, the effort helps me understand the phenom better while getting it through my dysfunctional reflexes that it is not okay to keep doing this.
As far as medication is concerned, there is not magic pill. You may have to try many pills before you find what works but believe me it’s worth it when you find what works
thank you so much for sharing. one of the biggest things that took me forever to learn, (even till this day) is coming to peace with my past and toxic relationships. learning how to forgive myself, and forgive them, and coming to truth that the person we are with currently are not THEM. that whatever is in the past, stays in the past and our actions in the present help pave our future. I had to learn to be at peace with myself, become the person that makes ME happy. and find the same qualities and beliefs with someone else, to share that peace and happiness.
if you are seeking for a therapist, find one that will help you get where you want to be, that they take the time to understand and hear you,
best wishes,
I just want to say I know how difficult this is.
This person may have seemed like your dream boyfriend, you need someone who accepts the anxious part of you. It’s part of who you are.
I was broken up with because I couldn’t just “go with the flow” - but it’s so important your partner knows from the offset what they’re getting themselves into and they need to be able to support you.
My fiancée that I’m with now, is so supportive, considerate and kind. Obviously she struggles sometimes, like I do with her, but ultimately, we see it as a battle we face together.
You deserve kindness and understanding. Accept nothing less.
