Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I am kinda afraid to talk about this because I'm scared people will think I'm lazy. I have a hard time telling if I'm just lazy or if I'm justified in my feelings. But basically I don't really have much motivation for life outside of what it is now (never leaving my house just staying here and not becoming a part of the world) I don't think it's possible for me to have a job or learn to drive. There was a time when I was trying so hard but it kept getting worse and I just lost all hope. I feel like the fact I'm even reaching out and pushing myself to ask for options for therapy is in a way me trying but I don't think I'm trying hard enough. I feel like if there's no reason to get better why put myself through all of that stress and suffering if it won't make me happy and fulfilled. After being here so long I feel no interest in having real life friends or doing anything I don't think my life will amount to much. Recently I've had a small thing that's been giving me a bit of motivation but it's something I'm not 100% sure of being an option for me so I'm keeping my hopes low. I guess what I'm trying to say is, am I lazy for feeling like I need some sort of motivation to make me want to get better? Do you believe that you can only get better if you genuinely want to and have something in you like a drive that is pushing you? I believe that but I feel like everyone else doesn't and I just can't find my drive. Sorry if this is a bit long I've been on a kick of typing out my feelings lately but it's been making me feel bad because I feel like I'm bad for feeling this way.

Last week you said you were going to have a social worker come to your house, has that happened yet? You are only 17 years old and believe me, there is a whole life ahead of you, with lots of fun and adventures to be had!!
Keep writing your feelings, that helps. Have you talked to your doctor about this? Medication for depression and anxiety can help, if your doctor thinks it's okay for you to take it.
Hang in there, you are doing great! You keep pushing ahead, and keep trying!
As I read your post, I think I noted a pattern which is present in my hyper-activity, as well: the swing between the extremes of trying too hard and not trying at all. When I give up entirely, my hyper metabolism typically propels me to exotic environs. I can no more sit inactive behind a closed door than I can fly to the moon. In my strictly personal case, the psychotherapy approach to these extreme swings was/is seeking a balance between the extremes. I doesn't have to conquer the world in a single leap of tall buildings. A little here and a little there has gotten me much further than either extreme. Those small goals are far easier to manage than the big, sweeping reforms. Ya doesn't have to go forth to master a high power career today. Just open the door and challenge yourself to step through it.
Forgive me if I only projected that extreme swing. It is a HUGE factor in my own illness and I do project it allot.
Gentle support while you sort your own. For what it's worth, your post wasn't all that long by DS standards. This ain't Twitter. . . Freestyle venting makes it much easier to untangle the psycho snot knots.
Setting smaller goals remains an effective psychotherapy tool at whatever energy level. Even the most lofty of goals are accomplished one task at a time. Focusing one task at a time gets the job done more than worrying about the tasks that aren't ready for doing.
Why did your Mom cancel your appointment?
Just wondering in a not-mine-to-sort sort of way.
There is nothing in life either good or bad. It is thinking which makes it so. ~Wm Shakespeare
On my best days, I can sincerely admire what Nature gave to others while being fully content with my own Nature. It is what it is whether I understand it or knot.
