General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi- I'm a 39 year old male who has been struggling with anxiety and Panic disorder for roughly 8 years now. I currently take 40 mg celexa daily, 200 mg Gabapentin daily; and 1-2mg of Xanax as needed daily. I visit a psychiatrist weekly but was hoping for some other guidance. Does anyone have panic attacks in similar situations they have had panic in before? We live 2 blocks from the ocean. The last several times we have walked there I have had fight or flight panic attacks. Starting to feel like I have agoraphobia. Any help would be amazing

I am a lifelong anxiety sufferer and a hard case which has been in psychotherapy since 1972. My pro parade is intense enough that I can't remember all those names, ranks or resumes. My damaged memory has turned the entire pro parade into a sloppy bowl of alphabet soup. Some of the noodles are so soggy that I cannot read their letter any more. The indignities cast over them by my damaged memory doesn't diminish the important role my pros have played in this long, hard climb. They have been working in uncharted territory and did the best they could with what they had to work with.
But my pros are only mercenaries on this bloody battlefield between my ears. They do their jobs and go home. Strictly nothing personal on either side of the pay desk. Time for me to go home, too, assuming I have a home to go to. As valuable as the pro assistance has been in my healing journey, it has been my peer support network who has been there for me after the mercenaries leave the scene. It has been my peer support networks who have helped me translate and assimilate all those pro theories and the big words/heartaches attached. With their help, I have felt like more than an anonymous demographic in a pro dissertation as I have grappled with the blood and guts of their justy expertise.
This very forum is a vital part of that very peer support network. Hope it helps you as much as it has helped me. Welcome aboard. Hope you find stabilizing companion here.
Oh, the feel of fresh sea air brings me calm, peace, and tranquility. The sound of the waves splashing or crashing on shore is wonderful to listen to.
The two blocks, next time take time to observe the scene and picture the colors, shapes, and sized of everything. That will help you focus "in the moment" during the walk.
Anxiety is natural. Learning how to make it work for you will take effort, determination, and worth the time to practice and increase your toolkit to help you find your better balance.
Best wishes and welcome to the anxiety board at DS.
