I had a question, do you see a psychiatrist? They are medical doctors whose expertise is in anxiety and depression medications.
Please check with a psychiatrist before changing any anxiety medication doses. It needs to be tapered off in a certain way. That is why you felt more anxiety when you tried to do it yourself. That's okay, I'm glad that you caught it in time.
Sometimes, we need to be on anxiety medication while we are working on gaining anxiety reducing techniques. Have you tried any anxiety therapy?

nope, there's no shame in being on anxiety medicine for however long you need it. i don't see that as too different from being on insulin or wearing glasses for as long as needed.
