hello I’m new to this site and I really just wanted I place to be open and ask questions.
So I’m in about a three month old relationship with my first boyfriend and he is the only one who has ever known about my self harm. I told him about it and how I haven’t done it in a while which gave him the comfort that it was something in the past and I shouldn’t focus on that negative part of my life.
however the past year I have peaks of relapse after months have past and I had one recently. I just don’t know how to bring it up to him without sounding needy or desperate for attention. I’m also scared that since I appreciate my body like he can he will be angry or I’m going to ruin the relationship with my self harm. I’ve never talk about my self harm with him in person which also scares me to bring it up because it feels like something I’m suppose to ignore because we’ve never push forward to ever talk in depth about me experience either coping and anxiety.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I don't think he'll be angry. He shouldn't be angry at you for being in pain! You need comfort and love and support! But that fear is probably just in your head. It's also not needy to admit you have a problem... it's brave!
Remember that he is your friend, and your significant other, and he is the first person you should be able to tell about these things. But also, if not him ,TELL SOMEONE. I know that line of thought... you want to hide it, you're ashamed, you don't want to cause trouble. TELL SOMEONE. Please! They will want to know.
Much love to you... take good care of yourself!
Personally, I find it much easier to sort this kind of snot knot within my therapy support network before I bring it up with the people I am emotionally involved with. My psycho snot knots are messy enough, all by themselves. Add in the emotional intensity of my loved ones and. . . Ouchus maximus. The combo makes an unpredictable cocktail.
My therapy supporters have both the objectivity and the experience to untangle my psycho snot knots far more effectively than the loves of my life. I don't believe I am being ugly when I pray they never do need to understand ^it^ to the depth of someone who has lived the experience.
Once I have a clearer perspective on my symptoms, they are far easier to explain to my loved ones. I am not keeping secrets from my loved ones. I am simply asking them to let me trust my therapy supporters. I'll get back to you when I understand ^it^, myself.
But that is me. . .
Gentle support while you find what works for you, Shyguy.
You are responsible for what you say, do, and how you react. Taking the time to sort through the different options and working out possible responses gives you a way to be positive in any conversation you have.
Best wishes.
