Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I have been feeling very anxious the last few days. I have a few things weighing on my mind and I can't get them to stop. My best friend's elderly father was diagnosed with Covid, and her mom is really sick on a good day, I'm worried she's going to get it. I lost my mom and dad years ago, so it's very close to home.
I'm dealing with my weight and I don't know if my shortness of breath and heart palpitations when I do anything strenuous are because I've gained weight or if maybe I have covid too. I have a stuffy nose and a mild sore throat when I wake up. I have a fan blowing on me in bed, so that could be it. I'm probably projecting and have hypochondria, but I'm nervous. And I worry if I get tested that it will be positive and my anxiety will skyrocket.
I live alone and I don't have a lot of support. I'm just want to stop panicking.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Keep a private journal and that will help you sort through your thoughts!
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
If you are otherwise healthy, the shortness of breath and heart palpitations are common anxiety symptoms.
I would suggest taking walks outside (away from other people, of course) and that way, you would get some much needed sunshine and fresh air, and lose a few pounds as a bonus. Walking helps a lot with anxiety.
And when you can't get outside (but you should try to!), what I do is kind of dance around the living room, and march in place, etc. Moving physically helps a lot with getting rid of anxious thoughts. So, get moving!! :)
Talk with your friend, be there for her. But have other people too that you can talk to. And, you can always vent here all you want. Best wishes.
Weight is always difficult to tackle. It is a fight every day. I wish you the best of luck. What helped me was journaling my food and calorie intake. I log the food and try to get in 30 min of exercise or 10,000 steps per day. Can you get a covid test in your community? I do an outpatient mental health procedure every three weeks and I have to be tested 48 hours before. So I've been tested numerous times. I'd try to go and get tested to at least give your mind some peace.
It is hard to stop your mind from focusing in on events or ideas. Get some distractions to focus on coloring, puzzles, crosswords,... stuff like that. Come back to your problems later with new energy and new ideas.
I want to take a walk in the neighborhood, but I have physical limitations when I walk too far. So I have to plan where I can watch short distances at a time. It is a slow start but I just want to start. To make my mental and physical health better.
It's just so much on my mind and I am struggling to let it go.
