Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I was put on 50mg of Zoloft in May of last year for anxiety with depression from worrying that my life would not return to normal. This past January I dropped to 25mg. My doctor told me last May that 50mg was not much and I would not feel much of a difference. In January she said wean off slowly instead of dropping it all together. I stayed at 25mg till March and March 8th after seeing my doctor decided to drop to 12.5 instead of all together. She agreed. The period on 12.5 was the period I felt most normal. Better then I felt on 50mg. I felt like I could cry and feel some things more again. A week ago I dropped zolft all together. Saturday or day 6 had an upset stomach and felt tight in my stomach. Yesterday and some Saturday I felt some sadness. Yesterday evening a little depression. Some of that was related to being really tired and 2 of my kids were sick. I feel the depression may have been from being tired. It was not bad like I want to die depression. My wife and I were intimate three times but two of the times I had no drive and could not finish. I have slept ok the last three nights just woke up a little more. I woke up sweaty last night for the first time since I started zoloft.
Im ok for the most part and ready to use all I have learned to get healthy post meds. I see my therapist in 2 weeks. Just curious if any one else who has come of zoloft had a similar experience. I really though 12.5 was nothing and it wouldnt be a big jump. Then again I didnt think about my brain and body chemistry adjusting after all the setraline was out of my system. Any experience and insight would be appreciated.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

Staying hydrated is so important.
The fact that you are able to write out how the differences were for you is helping you find your way to a better balance. Good work!
I think you're more aware of the anxiety 'helper' now, so you understand how it is working for you.
Best wishes as you continue forward!
When you say "doctor", I hope you mean "psychiatrist."
Psychiatrists are simply medical doctors, who know all about anti-anxiety and depression medications (all mental health medications). They are the experts on these medications.
I am thinking you went off Zoloft because it was "dulling" some functions of yours. Which is common with some of the SSRI's, but it would have gotten better after awhile of taking it. Difficult to be patient, for sure.
Yes, you can definitely feel 12.5 mgs. I started on Zoloft at 5 mgs! And, yes, I felt it!!!
I hope that you can apply your therapy tools for your anxiety. And if not, there's nothing wrong with trying a different medication. Tell your psychiatrist that you want one that does not cause sexual numbness (I am assuming that was one of your complaints).
Nothing wrong with being on 12.5 mgs of Zoloft if it helps you. Whatever works... works. Everyone is different, so it's whatever works for you is all that matters :)
Good luck and keep us posted.
