Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I had the worst and longest panic attack of my life last night. It lasted all night and I had the worst physical and mental symptoms I've ever had. I just don't know what I can do to relieve it I feel so uptight and tense and I am at the end of my tether with things I can do to help myself.
I'm a mobile hairdresser and I go back to work next week - all I ever wanted was a long successful career but I already know I'm going to end up not doing clients they'll go elsewhere and my business will fail. I just can't see a way out of where I am at the moment. It got so bad last night I called Samaritans and spoke to them for a bit which made it a little better.
now I'm going to phone the doctors today and ask to be put back on medication which scares me so much, but I don't know what else to do.
I've tried CBT, Meditation, Therapy but I just can't see where else I should go with it I've tried everything.
Does anybody have any words of support or similar experience?
thanks in advance

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
I'm sorry you had such a bad panic attack. I get bad panic attacks too, and they are scary and I wish they would just go away forever and never come back again.
I am wondering if you have been doing any journal writing? It helps to get those feelings out.
I'd be interested in what part of going back on Zoloft scares you? I think you said it helped you before?
You wouldn't necessarily have to stay on medication forever. You already stopped it previously, and you can stop it again, once you have things managed better.
Also, taking medication along with talking to a therapist often produce good results.
You are not alone.
I’m not sure, I’ve never liked the idea of being on medication. But in this case I would literally take anything to make me feel better. I’ve put myself on a waiting list for a new therapist so as you said hopefully I’ll find the combination of both to be successful.
This morning after my horrific night last night I still can’t eat and my belly is rumbling everything I put in my mouth I gag. And my body just feels so sensitive like it’s still in shock. I’m very jumpy and tense.
Whatever therapy program you choose for yourself, it only works if you work it. Dropping your efforts at the first sign of inconvenience or discomfort is rather like building a career by changing jobs every time a new job starts to feel like work. Job hopping is not much of a career.
So opineth the Arf. . .
Gentle support while you find what works for you. For sure, there is much to be said for the simplicity of med therapy.
I’ve also enrolled on the waiting list for NHS therapy.
