Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. I have been helping to take care of my Aunt for about 20 years. Sometimes, I get really mad when it's time to gather stuff for her for a visit. I have to lug 7 cans of soda, food, storage bags, candy, and other stuff that she needs like shampoo, body wash, etc. Yesterday, I was on my own. My brother didn't go with me. Anyway, I lug a huge bag and cooler up to her room, plus my pocketbook and coffee. I got there and she looked like death warmed over. I hadn't seen her in 3 weeks because we had a bad snowstorm, then she had COVID and then pneumonia. Anyway, she woke up and of course, needed all these things done. I was very patient. Then, her roommate, who is a tiny woman who is blind, in her 90s and sits in a wheelchair, asked me to cover her up because she was cold. So I did that. Then she asked me for ice cream. I had none. Then she asked me to cover her again. I told her to do it herself. The blanket was around her shouders. I lost my patience. I cursed. I apologized to her. Then she asked me for a soda and a milky way. She is diabetic. When I told her no, her head fell down in disappointment. Finally, she asked for crackers and i gave her some. She doesn't help herself at all. They feed her. My sister-in-law's mother was almost 100% blind and fed herself, walked and was sociable. Anyway, then I was really disappointed in myself. I have to work on my patience. Otherwise, I had a super great day. I could never work in a nursing home. Ever!

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

My MIL had the same eye disease as my husband and she went totally passive and helpless but this was her personality all through life. She stopped walking but that is so common with visually impaired folks. Easier for other people if they don't walk but this is not good for them. Plus dementia creates body stuff.
Yet, my MIL at one time was very active in AA and did big things in my city to help women coming out of alcoholism. In the end, she was even totally physically dependent with a bad form of brain damage dementia from her years of alcoholism. Could not walk, could not talk about current events, or feed herself. She talked to people on the ceiling and I was the only one who thought she was talking to the souls and angels waiting to take her soul with them to heaven after she died.
Sometimes it is dementia that people can't do anything for themselves. This is also an end of life thing. Our bodies shut down, our brains shut down. Our bodies are moving us to another state of being as just a soul.
Lastly, you are a good person to help these folks, GreenEyes. Seriously, you give to others and this is a beautiful trait. Yes, their demands tires us out at times. Yes, you are human and have your emotions. Just remember your beautiful, giving, caring soul. Set the limitations you need to.
Dementia tries our patience. We don't reason with these poor suffering folks, nor do we say don't you remember. Those things just agitate them more. We redirect or say it will happen later, and don't expect reasoning and logic. My MIL was a nut at the end and it was so sad.
You were there to see your Aunt
Maybe this lady was just wanting some attention and you gave her some
Forgive yourself for being human
Big hug...xo
Us, stressed?
