Anxiety Support Group

General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello everyone
first time I've posted....actually first time I've ever joined a group or anything like this I've always kept a lot of my demons to myself I've never talking to a therapist or have ever been on meds for anxiety but have dealt with it since I was around 23 is when it first ever started and I am now 34...I'm not really sure what to do about it anymore I used to actually be able to control it pretty well just tell myself to "man up you are ok" but lately it's been really bad I just get these episodes of straight doom and gloom and feel like welp this is it this is the end having a heart attack for sure or just some stupid thing I feel even sometimes the slightest pinch or back pain find myself googling symptoms and talk my self into having all sorts of diseases and it just comes out of no where I'm fine all day for the most part but for sure afternoons and evenings are the worst....I apologize for rambling on not real sure where I'm going with all this just wanted to actually talk i guess....my family has never been big into sharing problems and I guess that's where keeping a lot of this shit in comes from but just wanted to possibly see if it would be a good idea to finally maybe get on some sort of meds thanks for reading have a blessed day

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
The problem with the *suck it up* approach to anxiety management is that anxiety takes a cumulative toll. Every time you suck it up, the internal anxiety savings account grows bigger and bigger until it implodes.
The good news is that the more effective anxiety management techniques are still readily available and making this post is a tried and true first step toward finding the techniques which will work for you.
Welcome aboard. Hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
You should get a psychiatrist to help with meds. Those can take a while to get right. The shrink will also give you a formal diagnosis. Next a good therapist that you can talk with and will guide you to become less depressed. A good therapist is critical.
One thing that will help you now is journaling. Writing down your thoughts and emotions on paper. You have to organize your thinking and it will help you to excise the depression and give you insight. I share my journal often with my therapist.
One key to improving anxiety are relaxation techniques. Deep breathing from the lower belly can naturally calm the fight or flight symptom caused by anxiety. Journaling your thoughts and emotions can often help you see trends and identify triggers. Meditation, exercise and activities you find calming can also help relieve symptoms. Below are some links to help you understand the effects of the flight or fight symptoms caused by anxiety and tips for calming it. I hope you feel better soon and that you can find serenity and peace. Best wishes.
