it seems than none of my psychotic symptoms are terribly consistent. my aversion to touch is extreme and present more often than not, but even i have days where i can't get enough hugs and/or pats. why? who knows? i certainly don't, nor do i trust the folks who claim they do know why. personally, i just let that mystery be. the heart goes where it goes.
When I am in 'alert', and someone touches me from the back, I automatically respond with an elbow or an arm movement. It's something I am diligent about because I do not want to injure anyone by accident.
I have found that it makes a difference as to the tone of voice, the appearance of the touch motion, and whether or not the person is being gentle or rough.
