Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello everyone, I usually don't join these things or even say a thing on them but I've been struggling with insomnia for about six weeks now. I usually have some nights a month but they go away. But this time I couldn't for about 4 days and then gotten to the point where I panicked even going into my bedroom. I was put on Zoloft and it has helped during the day but I am having a hard time sleeping still. I have had a few days here and there where I didnt have an issue but some nights I'm up all night. I have tried trazadone but it didn't work. I'm wary on taking sleep meds. I just really came on here to vent a bit because I feel like it's never going to end! Hoping my therapy sessions help too. Thanks for listening!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

Keep a private daily journal. Write out everything in it to help you sort through everything one sentence at a time.
Stay hydrated. With zoloft, staying hydrated will help you stay calmer even when anxiety spikes.
Write out a calming night routine. Look at your bedroom and figure out what works.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
My sleep has been interrupted as well, because of the pandemic and Covid virus worries. I am wondering if Covid worries are affecting you as well?
Zoloft is an excellent medication. I know people that swear by it. I was thinking of trying it myself soon.
Keep writing, keep venting. Hope you get some rest soon.
I can relate to the "panic about going into the bedroom". That is my problem. So I have been doing a lot of research lately about this and it looks like the best thing we can do is follow a plan on how to stop associating going to bed with fear and panic. They say what we should do is when we go to bed, only go to bed when your eyes are so heavy you can no longer continue watching some light TV (comedy) (don't watch TV in the bedroom!). If for some reason you do not fall asleep within 20 minutes, you get up, go into another room. Do some light reading. When your eyes get heavy again, go back to bed. Still can't fall asleep in 20 minutes? Rinse and repeat.
They say it's gonna suck at first. You might have to repeat this procedure many times and you might not be successful. But eventually if you keep doing this, eventually going to bed will be associated with sleeping and nothing but sleeping.
I think that's the key. The bedroom has to be a place set aside for absolutely nothing but sleep. Don't even go into the bedroom unless you are so tired that the thought of staying up another minute is nearly impossible.
They say the very worst thing you can do is lay in bed all night, tossing and turning. That's when your brain starts to associate your bed with being awake. The opposite of what you want your brain to do. You want your brain to associate with hitting the pillow as a signal that it's time to effortlessly fall asleep.
I’ve tried some OTC sleep aids that don’t work. Also tried melatonin and valerian root. I’ve tried trazadone (50 mg) and Remeron (15 mg). Nothing seems to work.
@sdeluca, I feel better knowing someone else worries about it too. I just need to know it may suck for a while. I get in this mindset “this will be forever” and then it’s a downward spiral.
I am new here, but wanted to let you know that I can very much relate to what you posted, I have the same issue and I have been going through it for several weeks now. I have horrible anxiety about insomnia and have struggled with it off and on over the years. I need to try and do what S Deluca is saying, get up every time and go in another room....I have not done this yet because like you I get distraught and I feel that it will not do any good anyways : ( Just want you to know you are not alone and hope you get some relief soon.
