I take generic lexapro (Escitalopram). I checked, and the manufacturer is the same from some old pills I had.

I definitely weigh more than the first time I took it (I've since had 2 kids). That's interesting to know. I'm just working with my PCP and not a psychiatrist for my medication.

I appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

After a couple of rough days, my doctor decided to up my dosage......starting at 15 for a week then to 20.

It might take the same amount of time for a higher dose to start working, it takes the med time to build in your system. As another thought, your anxiety might be worse now than it was before, which could be why your stomach pain is not getting any better. You gotta think outside the box sometimes when dealing with anxiety. Just when you think you have it figured out, something new pops up. Another thought is that you might be developing a hiatal hernia in your esophagus. I have one and if I don’t take my ppi, it can be very painful, especially when I eat. Another thing to consider, anxiety comes from our core or gut, if you will. That’s where all the body tension starts and radiates out from there. So our gut muscles are usually clenched in a bundle and often we aren’t really aware of just how much these muscles go thru with anxiety. Try an experiment to sit quietly and observe what muscles are clenched without you really noticing them before. My gut is still somewhat like that, but I have noticed it isn’t nearly as bad as it used to be. And there are times now when these muscles relax completely. It’s not you that is clenching, it’s the state of your mind that is doing it. As your mind relaxes, so will your body.

Thanks mtd. Oddly my anxiety is actually not as bad as previous 2 times I took lexapro, so that's why I'm frustrated it didn't work as well this time at the lower dose.

The process of waiting and dosing of an antidepressant is certainly not ideal for those of us with anxiety. It's like a cruel game lol.

My doc wants to test Mr for h pylori bacteria. I'm certain it will be negative....was tested the first time this all surfaced in 2014.....and also had an endoscopy. But better safe to test I suppose.

Just throwing out there that I have ulcerative colitis, GERD and chronic gastritis, for almost 2 decades. I do not take medication for anxiety. But when my anxiety is high, or I’m under long term stress, all those GI issues can get triggered. My ulcerative colitis has been in clinical remission for years due to the maintenance medications I’m on but whenever my anxiety ticks up I then worry myself sick that it will kick mu ulcerative colitis out of remission into a full blown flare, so that worry makes the anxiety worse, which in turn creates GI issues, so it’s like this vicious cycle.

Anyway, I suspect getting your anxiety managed will help with the GI stuff, or at least make the GI stuff easier to assess and address.
