Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I have to write things down and put them into perspective. When I think of doing things, I think that these things will take an incredibly long time to do. This morning, it came to me once again, that these things DO NOT take as long as I presume they will. For many years, when I've gone to my sister-in-law's, I ask myself how many hours a day it takes her to keep her house that clean. When I text her in the morning, and ask what she's up to, she always says she's doing some type of cleaning, laundry, yard work, etc. My day sounds more like going to the gym, shopping, yard sales, thrifting, resting, visiting my Aunt in the nursing home. Sometimes, I say cleaning but I am not usually up for hours of cleaning. Right now, it's 9:27 a.m. Thesse are some of the things on my list, although I'll make a list on my phone or on paper.
Work on class reunion (reaching out to classmates, finish list of classmates who have passed and posting stuff on Facebook)
Mow the lawn/pick up sticks first
Go to gym often
Organize clothes (overwhelming)
Go to bank
Call friend back
Visit Aunt/bring bananas
Organize stockpile of groceries
Delete 2,000 emails (at least)
Clean entire house
Go to the beach with brother (Sunday and Monday?)
Ride my bike every other day
Get baskets together and fill them (bought a lot of baskets from Kohl's, yard sales and thrift stores)
Open packages from Kohl's and Walmart
I can't do these all in one day. Today is 3 weeks that I've been on Summer Break. I have accomplished some things but not near as many as I thought I would. I've had some down days. Yesterday was the best out of the last 3 days. I actually left my house and went to the gym, Dollar General and ShopRite and the bank. Now I have to go back to the bank because my handyman came to tune-up my central air yesterday and it was a good damn thing because I was over 3 pounds low on refrigerant and my system was super dirty. So my bill was $365. Luckily, I had the cash. Some I had to borrow from my Aunt's stash. So I have to go back today. As I've probably said a million times, my energy only goes so far and then I am on the loveseat.

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

I still do this now as an older adult, no kids, just a husband. I have to pay a woman and her adult daughter to come clean every other week. It takes the two of them about 2 hours. But I do the cleaning the off week except not vacuuming, my husband cleans his half bath by his office that only he uses.
My energy only goes so far also. I end up in major pain when I walk too much or do physical things. I miss this about my old life being able to go, go, go. I was told to sit down and rest for 15 minutes in between each part of the chore by my PT last year. Meaning do the toilet, go sit and rest, come back do the floor, sit and rest. I am stronger and less pain this year but it stops me from living an active and busy life like I used to.
I do time chores so when my anxiety and goal orientation is screaming at me, I know it will take me 15 minutes to do the small bathroom and I have 15 minutes right then. I sometimes make lists for the day as crossing off things makes me feel good about myself accomplishing things.
Example:
Friday July 10:
9 AM clock in
930 meeting with J
noon tai chi
6 pm clock out
615 pm supper
630 pm wash dishes if any
7 pm treadmill
730 pm organize one box of emergency supplies with (Leo)
9 pm get ready for bed
And that's a light day, but you get the idea. I've taught him to do one box sat a time, one section of closet at a time (e.g., "formal shirts" vs "ties" vs "suits"), that knid of thing.
Tkae it in bites.
Peace!
I'm sure I have some degree of OCD
I also like lists and organization
I wondered about listing one thing you want to do and then one thing you need to do?
So you may want to go shoppung Monday
You may need to wash the floor etc
