Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello Everyone,
I hope you are all having a good (week? Month? day?). It's funny. I'm currently doing a social work internship for my final semester and a big thing that we have talked about since the very beginniing of starting in the social work major is burnout. I know the signs of burnout and I've learned that selfcare is important. But the thing is, we talked about this pre-pandemic. I'm currently in week 8 of this, and I think.. it finally caught up to me and it's affecting my relationship and my emotions in general. I'm starting to feel very toxic to my partner and just constantly having negative thoughts about myself. It's hard and it's getting harder because well it is currently a long distance relationship because i'm here at college while he is in my hometown. And I'm just constantly tired now and I feel as though I can't even maintain a conversation with him. It makes me sad because we have never been this way. We were always able to talk about anything and everything and now it just feels like I have nothing to say. I love him so very much, and I'm scared that I'm self sabotaging because I'm burned out from everything (having classes online, worrying about this pandemic, having to be up early for internship and being there from 9-5, having other classwork to worry about, etc) and I feel like I'm at my limit. I'm not even excited about the fact that I am graduating from university, I just want to get this all over with. I just feel very guilty and sad about my relationship and the way it is going because I want this to work out because he's been nothing but wonderful to me and I'm just like this tired, sad, person. If I were him I wouldn't want to deal with someone like me. I've talked to him about how I am feeling but I just don't know what is going on with me. I'm everywhere with my emotions like one moment i'm sad another moment I'm okay, another moment I'm annoyed. And I'm not sure if this has to do with my anxiety or whatever this is, but I just want everything to go back to the way it was before. I feel as though I'm self sabotaging my relationship and I don't know what to do.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

When I have been stretched to the point of using self-sabotage to lighten the load, I look at my priorities and how to better balance the load. As I read your post, I found myself wondering if you should try some trust in your relationship. If you shift that part of your energy supply to getting through the final semester, you might even open some room for your bf to be a source of support instead of an energy drain.
Keep your eye on the prize, Blue. You are so-o-o-o close.
I think your relationship will be just fine. Do you have other friends you can vent your feelings to? Or write them down in your journal. Sometimes, we can't unload everything and every negative thought we have, on to our partners. We need other outlets to get our frustrated feelings out.
You're doing fine. Just take it one step at a time.
@GirlinCalif: Yeah I've neglected letting myself take a nap mainly because by the time I get home from my internship its already almost 6pm so I debate on napping (if I nap I wake up like at 9), but yeah I'm going to try to incorporate it back into my schedule because before all of this I did take more naps. It's my form of self care I suppose. To answer your other question, I do have another friend who is with me here at college who I occasionally talk to about how I am feeling, but I try not to do it to much because we are pretty much on the same boat or she's a little more busy than I am (She is actually taking classes while I am doing internship). I also do journal.. like every so often but I've also neglected doing that, but it is another thing I will try to incorporate again. Thank you
