Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I have actually nowhere to go so I came here. I had been struggling with anxiety and depression but seemingly out of nowhere it got out of control so I finally started medication and therapy a couple months ago, I felt like i was doing better but I'm starting to get super anxious again and I can't get good sleep at all. My dissociation has gotten really bad again, nothing really feels real at all i feel like im losing my mind. The physical symptoms i get from stress, anxiety and no sleep have messed with me so much and only add to this cycle. Every muscle twitch or irregular feeling gets me so close to panicking again. Everybody tells me this is all just anxiety and stress, I'm not trying to doubt that but there is just that nagging part of telling me there's something wrong with me. All the feelings i get scare me so much, I'm just afraid that this is something more than anxiety it's so hard convincing myself otherwise.
I don't know anyone else that goes through stuff like this it's really scary.

When i was in the ER February 16th 2025, i was being admitted to ICU where i was for 3 weeks, then had to relearn to walk for 3 weeks in another hospital rehab floor, the nurse told me something that made me feel for over 18 months now that i was finally *safe*. She told me that the guy who raped and beat me 21 years ago now almost 20 years at that time, was in prison as of a month before that...

Sometimes, I think I have ODD. I can be oppositional. It seems that the only times that I feel like cleaning are when I should be doing something else or I have to go somewhere. Well, not everytime but most of the time. Yesterday, I was supposed to be doing online training for work but instead, I decided to work on my kitchen table. Most of the time, I don't know where to start and give...

You are far from alone with those symptoms, as well as the phenom of feeling alone and freakish for having those symptoms. Girl, howdy, I wish I could **just get over it** like everybody keeps telling me to. Just just it all! ! !
Having a safe place to vent and sort among people who have some clues helps me allot. This is one of my safe places to feel less alone with ^it^. Hope it serves you as well as it has served me.
Welcome aboard. You are not alone.
Then we get to the general definitions of, "Crazy." Have you read the news lately? I'm not all the way sure **we** are the crazy ones. I often believe "Crazy" is defined by lunatics holding the keys to the asylum.
Having anxiety about my anxiety is par for the course. Panicking that I’m panicking it’s just the way anxiety works. Giving it a name this is anxiety and it doesn’t feel good at all but I am ok and I will be ok. Kinda takes away its power for me a little bit.
With anxiety and depression, they produce very real physical symptoms. Sometimes it even feels like you are having a heart attack. The can't breathing feeling can really make it scary. What has helped me it to remind myself, this is a disease, not something I am bringing on myself - it is a chemical imbalance. With medication and therapy you should start to feel better, but it will take time.
I have found taking my thoughts captive is number one in feeling better. As soon as a anxious negative thought starts coming, I try to block it before it festers.
These two techniques really seem to help me.
1) The 557 breathing technique is take 5 deep breaths in while thinking good thoughts about yourself like I am safe, I am calm, I am relaxed and then hold the breaths for the count of 7 focusing on those words about yourself, then let out the breath slowly for 5 seconds letting go of any anxious, self-defeating, unhealthy thoughts. I do this one to three times a sitting.
The gratitude journal is writing down something good every morning and night something that went well in the day, or something I appreciate about myself. Taking our focus off of the anxiety and depression and focusing on positive uplifting things really helps. What you think is what you believe. So thinking uplifting things you believe those things but the reverse is true - thinking negative self-defeating things, you will believe those.
I will be praying for you. Feel free to pm me if you'd like to chat. Hugs and God Bless
