Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Today I had a really bad Anxiety attack, it left me trembling, having a hard time breathing, and those awful dark thoughts that just float around it my head.
I have gotten in a argument/yelling/fight with my Mother-in-law on a discussion I really don't want to get into retelling it again.
As she was yelling back at me, I felt my anxiety acting up and a panic feeling in my bones. I felt like I needed to claw at my throat just to get myself from feeling like I'm suffocating. I ran upstairs to take a moment for second to breathe a little so it can calm down before it gets worse.
But unfortunately, my M.I.L. kept yelling me to come downdownstairs, she wouldn't listen. And so I did, endure the yelling. I tried again to explain to her right now is bot the time for me to be hearing her, that I have having a anxiety attack, I need a moment. All she said was that she didn't care, I was behaving like a child for doing that. And if I'm this "problem" I need to go get "special" help. Proceed to tell me I could never do anything right when I had the chance in the past.
After that entire situation, I tried to stay upstairs to cool off but being alone in my bedroom made it worst because I realized I had no one at the moment to help me. I felt alone, I honestly felt like dying. Like I wish I could had died along with my biological mother instead of being here alive.
Instead of staying in that home, I left for the better of my safety.
How can I be able to handle a situation like this if it were to happen again?

The best antidepressant is when my wishes are honored. An example, the faucet in my apartment was running although the knobs were turned shut all the way, and one of the pulling strings on my ceiling fan came off. As soon as I notified my maintenance man, he was quick to reply with the work order. RAPID response... he's getting my services around my apartment done. I appreciate my landlord and...

Hello,so I'm currently in a weird relationship with my long distance ex who I've never met in person and it's taking a toll on me. I've lost 15 pounds and lost my appetite, but I'm really attached to him. We've had a lot of problems and I think that has caused me to gain severe anxiety. I don't know if I should wait until it gets better or what. Everytime I've blocked him, it has tend to make me...

Not exactly sure your situation... But ill do my best to help give you something from my experiences.
I dont know why, there is so much stigma towards seeing a counselor/therapist.. I admit at times I have my own doubts but it can do wonders if u give it a chance. Especially when it comes to handling difficult situations, such as confrontation with your mother in law. Nothing wrong with it. Especially with the way she pointed it out, was totally unnecessary... I can imagine why it would be very upsetting for you. But again, id like to stress that there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting help... In any case, it means youve taken a step towards self care.
One thing that helps me when I feel anxiety is breathing deeply. But it has to be a practice of "Mindfulness", Practice deep breathing when you dont have an anxiety, I do it every night before bed... just a few deep breathes, it helps to relax your system. And when an anxiety attack is lurking, it really helps!!
you can think of it like... exercising, but "exercising" to relax your body and mind.
feel free to check mindfulness out! i bet theres a lot of resources on it on google :) My counselor gave me this resource http://self-compassion.org/category/exercises/#exercises
hopefully it helps! warm hugs.
I've gone through similar symptoms/situation when my anxiety attack creep up behind me. All my mistakes, uselessness, dark thoughts just hang over my head in a dark fuming cloud. I go through the same, red neck/face, slurred speech, hand/body shaking.. I would try to be it together, bottled it up so no one will see me crack but I would always end up crying in the bathroom/bedroom locked away from preying eyes.
Afterwards I just feel fatigued and empty..
I will be seeing them this Monday March 05, 18.
I'm nervous about this meeting since its been the first since I was 17 years old.
It’s very difficult explaining panic attack symptoms, experiences to friends or family members who have never experienced it. They often don’t understand and can’t relate.
I’ve suffered from debilitating panic attacks on and off over the last 7 years. During that time, I have learned *not* to share my symptoms/struggles with family, especially my husband. All he does is get mad and yell out of frustration. But the thing is, I know that’s exactly all it is on his part: frustration. He’s frustrated because he sees me suffer, and doesn’t know how to help.
Without knowing what the argument was about, I would talk to your mother in law when emotions are less elevated and explain how it effected you.
It’s okay to set healthy boundaries between family and yourself. I had to set a boundary between myself and my mother - our arguments would often just make my anxiety worse.
I hope this helps. Please know that you are not alone. *HUGS*
