I have to make a decision on whether to retire or take a position at work that I am not comfortable at all doing. This job has been my life for the last 20 years. I don't want to give it up. I had a very bad summer with major anxiety. Spent 3 months at home on family medical leave. I have no confidence in myself anymore. Happiness is gone. I'm on meds and that got my anxiety under control enough that I could go back to work. I have my first appointment with a therapist next week. If I retire it brings on the new set of anxiety of paying for insurance. We live in a small town where there is not much for employment.

That goes through my mind too. It is just so stressful. And with covid it’s going to be hard to learn the new job because it will all be done over the computer and phone.
Gentle support for the decision. It's a toughie. Keep venting. Your answers are in there.
Lol, I wish I was 65 then there wouldn’t be any question about what I would do.
Tropicaloo,
I so want to keep working. I am missing a lot of self confidence due to the anxiety. That’s pretty much what’s holding me back.
Stop, pause, breathe.
That self confidence shows in your writing, you got it, help it come out and shine with you!
Thanks for the positive message.
My health is what’s most important. But then if I lose my health ins I won’t have the money to get the help I need. I just feel stuck in a circle of anxiety!!
I hope my therapist will be able to help me.
I know what the work entails and the boss I have likes to make things seem like they are going to be easy and that she will help all she can. But I have learned from experience that she says that and when you start she just starts throwing more on top of you. I really don’t want to go through all the anxiety as I’m afraid of it taking me through the nightmare I went through this summer.
