Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Here is a funny story from today/tonight that I thought you all might could relate to and enjoy.
I went back to work Monday after a two week break, and decided I would make a concerted effort to cook to save money and eat better. Nothing like trying to pile too many goals in one week to get the anxiety machine cranked, right? So I ordered grocery delivery (HATE the grocery store) for this afternoon and have carefully budgeted and planned meals for the week. Some of the items I already had on hand, so I started slicing the veggies and preparing for the delivery items by cleaning out the fridge and taking out the garbage. Some time passed and the groceries had not arrived, but I went ahead and turned the oven on. More time passed and the groceries were still missing. There was about 15 minutes left in the delivery window and I continued to work on getting ready for the meat and some other items to arrive. After the window ended, I was mad that they still had not arrived. I quickly got out my phone and went to the app to see if there was a number I could call to find out where my stuff was. There were all my items in my cart I thought were coming, still sitting there waiting for me to submit the order. I was madder than mad. I was BIG MAD. And then I was LIVID. Normally, I would try to calm myself and say "it happens" but I decided I would let this just simmer and roar. Then I went and got my keys, told my family I was going to be back in 20 minutes, and left! I turned the music as loud as I could stand it and just drove and fumed. I repeated over and over "I'm so mad!" and just let it all go. After a couple of minutes, I decided I would NOT be defeated and pulled into the grocery store. I went in and picked up the 4 items I had to have for tonight (I set the grocery order for tomorrow - and made sure to submit it this time). The last aisle I went down after picking up some cheese was the wine section. And wouldn't you know, my favorite cheapo moscato was on sale for $3.99. I swept that bottle right on in my buggy, went home, cooked a tasty dinner, and enjoyed a nice glass of wine.
All that to say, what normally would have caused me a ridiculous amount of anxiety didn't this time. I think letting myself be angry and get it out of my system really helped me to process the emotions instead of stuffing them down.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
