Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
every case is unique, but in my own case, giving up the search for immediate relief was an important breakthrough. my quest for microwave solutions had me buying from any snake oil salesman that bellowed by and praying to enough different gods to make me look like a faithless god whore. none of the available programs were perfect enough for me, so i kept falling for whatever pop fad faded my way. in the end i tried radical acceptance that there are no perfect solutions nor sustainable quick fixes. taking things one day at a time in small steps is what finally led me to peace and healing.
but that is me and repeat that every case is unique.

in my own radical acceptance process, i might make a physical copy of that summary that i can carry with me when my mental monkey starts trying to complicate things -- AGAIN! ! ! as i let the radical acceptance percolate and solidify, i ply mindfulness to the mitigating factors. i work to simply observe them without judging. those mitigating factors are what they are, whether i understand them, or not.
my craving for instant relief tempts me to urgency, constantly. the sense of urgency tempts me to self-loathing when i fail to find that instant relief. i need to remind myself often to be gentle with myself and patient with the process.
god, please grant me patience. ! ! !NOW GODDAMMIT! ! !
a compassionate sense of humor helps allot, too. so i tell myself. . .

I'd like to control the world, my husband, my adult kids, my friends but that makes me more anxious and upset. So I decided to focus on myself only, change myself only. I have to do a lot of self talk. I also did a course of cognitive behavioral therapy at the "right time" for me and it changed how I think. I now recognize my own cognitive distortions or unhealthy thinking styles. Don't get me wrong, I make myself a little crazy yesterday trying to get everything done before the big freeze we had last night. I felt very anxious and then immediate relief after I finished the tasks. I beat myself up for nothing yesterday and this causes a lot of stress.
