Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello everyone.
I have Anxiety. My parents don't really seem to understand that though. We don't have enough money to see a therapist. They keep getting mad at me for not going to social events. I really just prefer to stay home and watch TV or be on my computer. Whenever I do go to a social event, it's like my eyes just glaze over and I an litterally unable to smile and look people in the eyes.
I am starting to get these Anxious tics (moving my head in weird angles, flailing my arms around jerkly, pulling out my hair, etc.)
I don't really know how to end this so...

How about at school.... are you okay when you are at school?
Welcome to the board.
Anxiety is a hard-wired part of our survival instinct. We don't get to cure it any more than we get to cure our need to eat in order to lose weight. However, we do get to build our awareness of when our natural instincts have become unbalanced and collect tools to help us get back into and maintain a healthy balance.
Writing out my anxieties of the day and sharing them in a safe place is one of my more effective anxiety management tools. This very post is a good example of that very tool in action. Did it help you any in this go-round?
Keep venting, Christian. Listening. . .
Welcome aboard. Hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
Anxiety is natural.
Keep writing and sorting through your feelings.
Take the time to figure out what works when so you can be outside, be doing things, be active, and be present with your parents.
Your parents see what you are doing, and are giving you their idea of how to make a change.
Before saying no, try doing something different with them. Instead of responding in usual manner, try to find a way to connect to their idea.
You are responsible for what you say, do, act, respond and react. To change comes from yourself first.
Thank you for such a warm welcome!
GirlinCarlif, I am homeschooled so I don't go to school. I went school for 2nd and 5th grade and got bullied because I made friends with boys. They were the 2 worst years of my life... I do have 2 close friends. I haven't seen one of them in a few months. We keep in contact through text though but she keeps wanting to call me. Does anyone else have a hard time with phone call?
If she wants you to call her, go ahead and call her (unless it would be less anxiety for you if she called you? That's okay, too). Sounds like she will be doing most of the talking anyway (lol), so you can just listen. Talk as little or as much as you want to.
I think it will be an enjoyable experience. I like to talk on the phone so that I can vent, chat, and it gets my stresses out to talk out loud.
Good luck, you can do it! :-)
