Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I am a 54 year old mess. I have terrible anxiety both general and social. I don't like to go out and be around people or different people because I feel inadequate and that I am being judged. I have to force myself to go out. People I know just tell me to get over it. I am on different meds for both this as well as other mental conditions. I always feel on edge like something is going to happen and I need to be ready. I won't make eye contact with people because I feel inferior. I get shaky, and work myself up to panicking attacks. I feel hopeless. I have a dog that has been made into my ESA because if he is with me out in public and I feel like a mental meltdown ( panic attack) I stroke his soft hair and whisper to him and I can relax most of the time but not all of the time. I am scared of life in general.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

You said you don’t like going out or being around other people, but you do it anyway because your not letting this anixity take ahold on you any longer.
The thing some people don’t understand about anixity is every step you make in the right direction is hard it’s never easy no matter how little or big, to you, to us people with anixity everything seems harder and in some ways it it, but your not giving up, you could be, but your not.
The thing I’m working on right now is patients. Try being a little patient with yourself it goes a long way.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out. If you need someone to vent to or just talk I’m all ears!
You’ll get through this.
Its good you see a doctor. Check with him/her to see if your meds are helping. If not, ask and see if you can use supplements also, or instead.
Animals/Pets are a great gift for humans. They keep us from harming ourselves often. They give us comfort and joy. They help us to realize that not just human life is important. But all life is important.
Your not alone when you have a pet to love.
Best wishes with the dog as your partner.
Keep writing and doing as much as you can!
I’m feeling a lot like you
