Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello to all my fellow warriors!
I am new to this forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I am 47 and have dealt with severe anxiety, mild OCD and PTSD most of my life. Even as a child I was phobic and anxiety ridden :(
I finally addressed my anxiety in my mid 30's and was on Lexapro for 15 years (which helped tremendously). The Lexapro has recently pooped-out and I have been playing the new meds game. I am on Celexa right now and on week 1 (doing so-so with it).
I have also been struggling with insomnia for the past year (getting older sucks). I'm so happy there are forums like this one to find support from individuals that understand. My anxiety today is a bit higher than I'd like so, talking/typing it out helps. I have been missing work trying to adjust to the new meds and it's been so hard! I'm a crisis worker so I have to be able to function and not have anxiety, ugh!
I have three children aged 27, 15 and 13 and the two younger ones keep me on my toes. My youngest is going through an angst stage and my 15 year-old has autism (high functioning). I am also happily married and have known my husband for 21 years!
I look forward to getting to know you all better and sending you all positive energy!
Cheers - Emma

I'm another lifelong anxiety sufferer. I started my own healing journey at 18. I'm not at all sure I could have escaped the throw away kid life without ALLOT of help from my therapy support network. Even now, nearly half a century later, I rely on my therapy peer supporters to help me keep my anxiety balanced enough to have a functional life.
DS has been a wonderful source of support for me in the quest for balance. Hope it serves you, as well. Welcome aboard.

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Changing meds is hard. You have to adjust. But you too have to find what works for you. Everyone it affects differently. Sounds like you have a wonderful hubby and family. That's awesome. It's hard to work when your not feeling well. Hope you find your balance. And welcome to the DS. Glad we became friends. I agree getting older has its challenges! I have been experiencing the most with my sleep patterns as well. I never thought of insomnia but that what it seems to be... I may need prescription meds for this problem I found myself just getting over the counter sleep aid but I still end up awake most nights. I have a plethora of things going on in my life, to say the least. Grad school, work full time, marital separation the list seems to be endless. I think I am in denial
Best wishes as you find your better balance!
