Hey ya'll -
So I'm 29 and when I struggled with health anxiety a lot from 14-19 (my best friend died of cancer at 14 and I guess it freaked me out). I haven't stuggled much with health anxiety since then but the last week has been horrible. My mother in-law committed suicide a couple months ago and I guess it's trigged me again.
So basically for like a week I've felt a lump in my throat and noticed one of tonsils swollen. Of course I went to to Dr. Google last night and it killed me. I ended up thinking I have tonsil cancer. I went to my GP tonight - he looked at my throat and said it's definitely not cancer. He was really reassuring. He gave me some antibiotics said my nose was inflammed and despite not really feeling sick I have some post nasal drip causing my throat feeling.
Despite all that I'm still freaked out my lump in my throat feeling. At this point idk if I'm just being hyper aware of the feeling in my throat and making it worse. I don't have any trouble breathing or anything - it's just freaking me out.

Health anxiety is not a big deal in my personal psychobaggage car, but my lengthy list of other anxieties sure do produce allot of physical symptoms that shift around as fast as my anxiety does. I'm okay with the stigmatic claim that those symptoms are, "All in my head." Guess where I keep my brain and I've heard rumors that the brain is the most powerful organ in the body. Mixed signals there will be felt throughout the entire system. "Anxiety" qualifies as a mixed signal in the Arf School of Communications.
I doesn't know if that experience has anything to do with yours, or not. I mostly wanted to welcome you aboard. Hope you find supportive companionship here while you sort your own.
