Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Today I realized that good days take work. Having a day where mental illness doesn't take over requires you to really push yourself.
Last night I worked on trying to stop myself from being so mean to myself and silence the scary anxious thoughts because really I just wanted to get a good night's sleep so badly. And I actually did. In the morning I instantly had to start working on keeping myself in a good headspace right as I woke up. No time to relax or just sit because the bad thoughts already started coming in.
I had some small bad moments througout the day but for the most part it was a good day. But I am not sure I will make tomorrow good. I am realizing why I only have good days every once in a while. It's hard to do this work. Constantly having to push myself to keep going when I just want to lay down and stop challenging all the bad thoughts. Just let them take over it's easier that way.
When your brain is so unbalanced you have to make the balance. Figuring out a good balance between everything is hard. Most people know how to feed themselves get important things done and just do fun things and balance them all together into the day. That's like trying to juggle flaming sticks or something for me.
Basically what I am saying is by the end of the day I am so tired from all the work I had to do, that by the next morning I'm just out of it. I don't have the energy to try again. When I push myself too far with this I end up feeling like I'm gonna explode. Like right now just thinking about the fact that the rest of my life I will have to work like 10x harder than everyone else just to have a good day, is making me really mad and upset.
So I am glad today was good. I got a lot done I took care of myself ate well. Heck my dad even randomly brought us a pizza, it was great. But at the end of the day I am too tired to do it again. Just feels really sad to think about. Gonna try to keep the last few hours of my day good. And hopefully I can try tomorrow as well.
Just some thoughts I had today I'm sure some people here can relate.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Yes, I get that, it is mentally exhausting to deal with anxiety all day. You don't have to think now about doing this again tomorrow. Do it when you can, and the more you do it, the easier it will get.
I find that distractions help me. So right when I wake up, I just go go go. Keep my mind occupied with other tasks and projects. Even small tasks. So not to right away start dwelling on my day of anxiety. If I wake up already anxious, I keep my mind busy with other things right away. Since anxiety is in our minds, it helps to have our minds think about other things, so that anxiety has no place to be in there too.
And going outside helps me to feel better, too, although I don't know why that helps.
Keeping a journal will help you see what works and doesn't work.
Good job! Hope you have a great day tomorrow! :)
Being outside can be helpful for me sometimes. The fresh air is nice and the scenery is beautiful. But when it is hot like it has been recently, it's not as helpful bc I am sensitive to heat and all the bugs scare me. Just waiting for it to be early spring again. That's my fave time of year.
I have a kind of journal in my notes app that is for really bad nights. I also sometimes write on the journal on my profile on here as well. I want to get a nice journal to physically write in but the one I want is a bit pricey.
I have always been bad at actual journals because I want them to be perfect and whenever I mess up I get upset. I'm such a perfectionist that writing things makes me frustrated haha. I've been like that ever since I was little.
Yes, dealing with my mental illness calls for sustained efforts, but I go for the self-acceptance and gentle nudges which don't exhaust me. One missed goal does not need to ruin the entire day. I can gently move on to whatever is next.
Itsy bitsy baby steps, Frog. Or is that itsy bitsy tadpole leaps? Keep your eye on the fly.
Acceptance is just another one of those tiring things for me. I'm constantly throughout the day trying to be like "it's okay I'm doing good these thoughts don't define me I am great the way I am" by the end of the day all that focussing on myself and nothing else just feels bad. Maybe I am doing it wrong. But I guess I will learn eventually.
I like tadpoles leaps haha tadpoles are very cute.
When I had to crawl to the living room from the bedroom, day after day, week after week, I had to work at it. One day, I was able to stand and wobble to the living room and I was so proud of myself.
At the end of the day, you are seeing what you accomplish that day. It adds up and makes a difference. Maybe not all at once, maybe a giant leap, maybe just a step.
Keep on moving.
