Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hi i got diagnoised with panic disorder when I was 19. I thought i had looooonnng overcame my severe panic attacks because i had quit smoking and dabbling in drugs. But today I’m starting to worry that i still have panic attacks, just much less severe than i used to have them. Earlier today i started feeling extreme fatique so bad that i went in my room and took a nap unwillingly. When i awoke from my nap i felt numb and hot all over and my stomach was rumbling a bit (i have a lot of different gastrointestinal medical problems) and my heart immediately started beating a mile a minute because i assumed i was getting sick. I got up and walked around the house trying to shake it off, just feeling disoriented and strange. My mind just kept racing, thinking “am i going to throw up? Do i have the flu? What are symptoms of the stomach flu? Why do i feel like this? Oh my God im going to throw up!” And just on and on. I started to feel fine after awhile. But then I started to talk to my grandma about it and out of nowhere i felt this horrific wave of nausea. I just kept going to the bathroom but i never threw up. But my heart kept palpitating and i was ready to go to the ER. The same thing kept happening all day on and off, but i never threw up and now i just feel totally fine. It was sort of weird and now I’m wondering if it was all just apart of my disorder, what do you think?

I had to look up, "emetophobia." The look up netted me, "Fear of vomiting" I don't think I qualify for the dx, but my digestive tract is my most sensitive system and I don't fear vomiting, but. . . What's to love about it? Ditto for all the other physical pains attached to the dilemma. The fact that I have to live with that dilemma has yet to inspire romantic inclinations inside my personal skin.
In my own, strictly personal case, I can't really distinguish where the physics leave of and my psychoses (pl) begin. One place I have no doubt is that physics and psyche are irrevocably connected. My mental health issues effect my physical health mightily, my digestive tract in particular. I still don't know where one leaves off and the other begins, but they are deeply connected. My psychotherapy tools offer far more relief than yet another visit to the GP office.
So it is for me. . .
Gentle support while you figure your own, Kay. Every case is unique.
What distraction does is release the tensed muscles long enough to relax the gag reflex which then releases the urge to release something naturally.
Using a journal can help you do the sorting through the feelings and figure out something that works to distract your usual repeat / pattern.
Best wishes.
