Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

i'm only 20 years old, i used to have a bad drinking problem it all started when i turned 17 i moved in with my boyfriend it started off so innocent, then it became every night, then every morning afternoon and night, i would be "blacked out" from drinking, for days i would drink twice a day, all day i would wake up at 8:00 am, and be drunk by 8:30 i started getting uncontrollable in my black outs, putting other people in danger, and myself, i would pop bottles of pills in my blacked out state and throw myself down stairs. i was sent to detox, that worked... for a couple days until finally i started getting in so much trouble (with the law) that i decided i had to move away, and get sober. i'd like to say as of next month, november 2014 i will be two years sober, and my boyfriend is well over a year and we have a beautiful 5 month old daughter and living sober, the down fall is, ever since the day i stopped drinking i have never been the same.. my withdrawals from drinking were intense, i went into cardiac arrest the first time i sobered up, it was so terrible i would hallucinate, cold sweats, non stop shaking, irregular fast heart beat, anxiety, fear of everything and anything, the walls would close up on me and all i could do was put my head between my knees and rock back and forth, during that time i would try so hard to think happy thoughts think about good childhood memories and NOTHING would come to mind in fact i wouldn't have been able to tell you my own name, it was the most helpless hopeless feeling, i thought the only way out was dying. but my 2 months sober and then on out the intense withdrawals died down, but it's been 2 years and i'm still suffering from the anxiety, as if karma is doing it. i can't go out, i feel like this will ruin my daughters life, what if i can't take her to her first day of school?!?! that thought makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry. when i go out in public, or have to have any social interactions, or if a scary commercial comes on the tv my heart starts racing irregular my palms sweat the thoughts that go through my head are complete panic, run, fight, but it's completely unrealistic and i can never find a good reason, i tell myself slow down deep breaths but still i feel like traumatized i feel like there's no escaping. i wouldn't wish this on ANYONE!

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Anxiety is a tricky illness in that if you start to avoid things your anxiety will get worse instead of getting better. And your world can become very small (I only felt safe on one couch in one room and in one position on that couch..talk about small!) Our instinct is to fight it when it happens and that actually makes it worse too. Claire Weekes was a pioneer in helping people 'FLOAT' through their anxiety. Here is a website that explains this http://www.anxietycoach.com/claire-weekes.html
Another thing you can try is EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) which involves tapping pressure points in the body to help change the thought process. Here is one I like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heQvpti4uvo
Have you been to a therapist for your anxiety? Sometimes talking to someone about your life is very helpful and can uncover those happy memories you were unable to uncover before. They will also help you reverse the thinking that makes anxiety so bad such as 'what-if' thinking.
You have come so far on your healing journey please don't stop now. Find a therapist if it's possible and start working on healing the reason for your anxiety.
Take care
Anxiety can be treated as natural, since it's from your body and brain managing the signals received from the surrounding environment.
You have matched several once-in-lifetime events all within a short period of time, and you are moving forward with a lot of overwhelming sensations on a daily basis.
You can do this, and you are not alone. Best wishes.
