Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I am anxious at least 12 hours a day. Suggesting a walk to me or a trip to the grocery store fills me w increased anxiety & follows me there. My dr had increased my trileptal when I was feeling dangerously depressed. I was so anxious when I called to request a meeting w my dr that his receptionist actually hung up on me. I am alienating everyone & feeling horribly overstimulated. Does anyone relate? Pls answer. Just let me know you're there

Sorry to hear that your going through so much anxiety. And you know what the receptionist was very rude. I would mention that to your doctor next time you talk to him. We're all here for you. We are all in this together to support each other and give the best advice we can. So let it all out. Trust me we have all been there. Italianmomma4ever
Other things to note:
A small number of people who take anticonvulsants for any condition may experience depression, suicidal thoughts/attempts, or other mental/mood problems. Tell your doctor right away if you or your family/caregiver notice any unusual/sudden changes in your mood, thoughts, or behavior including signs of depression, suicidal thoughts/attempts, thoughts about harming yourself.
YOU did that.
Through all your fear and anxieties....you did THAT.
It may seem small to others but to you that's a huge thing, and something to celebrate. Don't downplay the little things.
So, what I do now before I get on the phone is have every thing written down and I ask the receptionist for the appointment and in three sentences cover the worst things that need to reviewed.
Keep those phone calls short, simple, and sweet.
As far as your goal to the mailbox, that is a huge plus!
If you feel the need to reduce your medication level, do it and write it out in a journal. Then at the next appointment, share in the office visit (not the receptionist) what your choice was and how it worked.
There is a reason the rear view mirror is so small and the front windshield is so huge-in the present we are driving in the direction we want to go, doing what we want to meet our goals, and keeping in the moment of our surroundings.
Write it out. Talk it out. Vent. The more you release the words safely, the better.
You are changing the way you think and do, hurrah for you!
Welcome to the anxiety board at DS.
even opening the door to get the mail is difficult too. when I'm home alone, the mail will often pile up for days or weeks (which is great, in the rainy season, cuz it gets all soaked.) bc of all the stressors outside. one time, a lady walking by was like 'are you ok?" when I had just opened the door to get the mail - see why I don't? lol. I too hardly go outside, and if I need to go to the store, it can take days or more to "pump myself up" to be able to go there. then I wait til before they close, so there's as little ppl and traffic as possible, and drink coffee before so I can get there as fast as possible.
it's sad that no one understands, and just thinks you're being dramatic or lazy. like my dad will be like "it's to bad someone couldn't even open the door or get the mail" :(
