Yesterday I took my little girl on a Daddy-Daughter date to see a movie. This alone made me nervous (being in a very crowded theatre can make your nerves shot). As soon as we sat down, my nerves went haywire. I know my daughter couldnt tell which is good, but I could tell I was having a panic attack. I prayed and just kept telling myself I would get through it. The panic attack passed after about 10 minutes and I was actually able to enjoy our movie and our time togehter.
I see it as a big win. Anxety said dont go, but I went. Anxiety said "You've gotta get out of here!" but I stayed. And we had a blast. I have been in the worst season of ANXIETY in my life, but yesterday was a BIG WIN!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I earnestly believe that the extra incentives to protect children from adult dysfunctions is the greatest gift children have given me. When I triumph over my own dysfunctions, those little ones sure know how to celebrate, heart and soul. No wonder every theology on the planet advises us to see the world through the eyes of a child.
