Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hey everyone! Im actually feeling pretty good today, aside from being sick with sinus issues.
I just wanted to talk about some of the things i experience with my anxiety.
It kind of just pops up as anxiety does, but sometimes.. I just dont feel emotions. Like, I can fake the happy, laugh and goof off, but i honestly feel empty on the inside. Is that a typical feeling? I try to make myself feel happy, listen to happy music and that can help.
I also, sometimes, and this is hard to explain.. feel like im getting lost in myself. Idk if its from anxiety or being light headed sometimes, but i feel like im being pulled back, sort of distant. It worries me and makes me think that one day im going to pull so far back, i wont come back to me. im not sure if that makes sense at all..
ever since i had that bad episode on my previous medicine where i pulled REALLY far back, im scared of other medicines. I dont want to be lost inside of myself.

Jay's podcasts are really good. I watch them on YouTube for free. Today, I watched his video about motivation. In fact, I've been watching a few videos on this subject. Jay gave us an assignment to complete the following sentence: I am stuck because? I don't describe myself as stuck, but to finish the sentence, I would say that I am stuck because I am tired. When I have energy, I do...
My shrinks call that empty feel, "Dissociation." It is a survival mechanism that allows us to survive inhumane circumstances. In my case, that survival mechanism is so over-developed that it has grown into reflexive habit. That light-headed feel is my first symptom of dissociation.
Is it any consolation to you that med side effect isn't the only route to this psycho snot knot? I worked my way into dissociative catatonia while I was stone cold sober and drug/med free. Not a fun place to try to pull back from. As so often happens in the healing arts, prevention is far more effective than cure.
For what it's worth:
These days I start plying grounding exercises with that first light-headed feel. I practice those exercises between episodes so that my skills are fit and ready for action when needed.
