When I work the *just don't* angles, I end up repressing and the repressed thoughts and emotions re-emerge later, typically at the least convenient moment available, in ever more psychotic forms.
Re-framing helps me take the bull by the proverbial horns and train it to something more beneficial. It works when I work it and is worth the extra effort.
It does make getting through life a bit easier. So I'll keep trying.
