Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello all. I've now been taking 30mg Remeron (Mirtazapine) and Klonopin to manage my anxiety for 4 weeks. I always seem to wake up with anxiety without reason. Although I do feel like I've made some progress (about 40% on average,) I'm just wondering how long it takes before I am finally feeling more like myself again?
For those who aren't aware, I only just started experiencing this back in June and was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder. It was absolutely out of control at that point. I don't seem to have triggers, and it is constant. I have a relatively stress free life and have an amazing support system. I journal every day to keep track of my progress, but I'm just not sure if this is where I'm supposed to be at this point in my treatment. I spoke to my psychiatrist last Friday, and she is keeping me on the same treatment to see how it all works out. Does it seem like I am on the right path? At this point, I'm just so over it, and desperately want to get back to how I was. I've also been practicing my breathing exercises every day, meditation, mindfulness, etc...but I am still having to deal with managing my anxiety with low dosages of Klonopin spread out throughout the day (.25mg at a time.) Does anyone have any idea of what a reasonable expectation would be as far as timeline of remission?

My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart. Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot. Got home, dropped keys. So now I have a missing debit card, missing keys. A full cartload to unload and put away. I got everything put away.Dumped purse for a...

Leaving that speculation aside. . .
My lifelong dance with anxiety has not given me any evidence that the condition works by any syllabus or known agenda. I am imagining that your being a newbie puts you at a disadvantage on establishing realistic timelines. Just imagining. Fact is, I have very little exposure to sudden onset anxiety and considerable evidence that anxiety, both acute and chronic, is a unique ride for every cowgirl/boy in the rodeo.
Steadying support while you find your own timeline, Nicki. Wish I had easy, predictable answers for all of us.
I think (and I have no basis for this because I still pop .25 mg of Xanax to get through the day) that there's more to managing anxiety that just meds. I have certainly not figured it all out.
What I'm trying to say very poorly, is that you are not alone. I found it helpful to be on DS.... I found it helpful to keep busy as much as you can handle. I am going to be starting work again in 10 days (remotely) so I'm pretty stressed since I left my new job falling on the floor with a major panic attack and was hospitalized.
Now, just leaving my house to take a drive makes me less anxious (where before I couldn't even leave my bedroom).
We are all in this together... share please.
I do acknowledge that my symptoms are less severe, but wondering if I'll ever get to the point of "remission." I've never experienced anything like this in the past, so I really can't figure it out. They say it can take longer for some people to start feeling the full affects of the medication, but the anxiety really does seem to creep up out of nowhere. I'm only 4 weeks and 2 days in, so I'm not sure what to expect. I'm in a better place than I was a month ago, but I'm still not at 100%. I don't think I'll be void of regular stress and anxiety, (when there is actually reason to be feeling then,) but having to manage the anxiety that really comes out of no where with Klonopin every day is exhausting. I'm always tired.
Writing it out, and keeping track of senses in anxiety can often give clues as to the triggers.
There is no "one size fits all" time line with this.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
