may I suggest you stay open to experimenting with different things?
for me, i plan to sleep at the same time every night all weekdays - that's because of the work I do- I have to be there very early - but the pattern - the routine of it - getting it all ready and having a steady amount of sleep - is really fortifying for my outlook - it just helps - I don't always fall asleep right away - but I've been inspired to try little things to help - like an herbal tea or a bowl of cheerios - that usually sends me to sleep.
I think it's not uncommon to worry about finding another relationship - but I think you will since you've been in one before. Just gentle advice, be good to yourself as your finding yourself again in the world as just you.. the anxiety probably comes from this being yourself on your own now - and you have to find your own boundaries now...
You could have some really cool ideas inspired from this time now and it will refresh you and you'll bring new things to a relationship in the future. Do you have any hobbies or passions? Sending peace!
Insomnia seems to be a predictable part of all my major life transition, whatever the nature of the transition. Often I think the insomnia even serves the practical purpose of keeping me to exhausted to run around pulling bone-headed stunts. When I can stay calm about it, my insomniac hours even work out to be the most productive hours of my day. It's so much easier to work while the world is too sleepy to interrupt me.
Since insomnia is a frequent visitor in my life, my arsenal for calming the anxious thoughts, etc. causing the insomnia is far bigger than I care to type in one sitting. Every round seems to be unique and which tool will actually work for any given round is a process of trial and error. I keep trying until something works.
A safe place to get my anxieties of the day into words and maybe even find some new suggestions and/or timely reminders helps me allot. This very forum is one of the safe places I have found to do exactly that. Hope it works for you, too.
Welcome aboard. You are not alone, JoeJoe.
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
Something to help you sort through everything is make a list of what you need to calm and settle the routine of sleep for "you". Taking care of "you" is hard work.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
My sister, she’s also diagnosed with anxiety and browsing the internet helps her to feel sleepy.
I hope you can find one that will work for you. God bless you.
if none of that works I do some yoga--take a pill...or just stay awake and read or watch some calming tv until my brain shuts off.
