Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

With anxiety and alcohol, changing the thought pattern is a single word, single movement piece of the pie.
Being in patient helps with the symptoms, however, it is temporary, and it's hard to take the step outside. It is.
Please know you are not alone, and that each step you take will help, one way or another.
I'm going to steal an allan carr example, because it's so perfect.
Imagine you've got a pimple and so you buy this pimple cream and put it on, and it makes the pimple disappear. But next day, the pimple is back, bigger. So you put more cream on, and it disappears.
But next morning, it's back, even bigger. And so you go on, buying this cream, putting it on, and the pimple goes away every time; but every next day it's back bigger, and bigger, and bigger.
What would you do? Would you keep on with the cream? or would you decide to live with the giant pimple for a little while, for it to go through the unattractive process of having this giant pimple pop and heal slowly - but permanently?
This is your choice. Alcohol creates the short-term temporary cure from anxiety and depression. But it creates them tenfold while you dry out.
If you let yourself dry out fully and don't take any drink the anxiety and depression will cure. And then you will be normal again. You will feel normal the way you only feel normal now, when you have a drink.
Best wishes!
I'm learning to more effectively express myself emotionally. Usually there's an anger or passion under the anxiety that is better expressed than bottled up.
Are you more anxious around others or by yourself? If with others, if you can articulate exactly what another person is saying or doing, how their thought process and the delivery of that thought process works, that annoys you or otherwise makes you feel anxious, your verbal expression doesn't have to come out as anger, but as careful, thoughtful, contemplative analysis. If you're more anxious alone, there are other ways to quell this anxiety, these racing thoughts, like vigorous physical exercise, which pumps positive endorphins into the brain, and, quite frankly, exhausts us, so that we couldn't feel anxious if we tried.
