Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I had a random thought earlier today about who I would want to have as my Best Man for my wedding in the future. I'm not getting married anytime soon, nor do I have a fiance or anything. I just thought about it because I don't really have a friend that comes to mind for that role. In general, I don't really have any lasting friendships beyond maybe 3 or 4 years. I think it has to do with a lot of things that I'm still learning about myself and working on with my therapist. Not to say I don't have friends, I'm okay with making new friends its just the maintaining part of it.
So, it just made me sad to think if I were to get married right now, I'd wouldn't really know what to do.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Welcome to the anxiety board at DS.
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
I would suggest to live in the present. Like you said, you are not getting married any time soon, so probably don't have to really think about a best man at this time.
When the time comes that you get married, do you have a brother, cousin, uncle, Dad, other family member? And also, there might be someone on your fiance's side of her family who you might want to ask to be your best man. She might have a brother, friend, etc. that you like a lot.
Live in the moment. Tomorrow's issues will work themselves out. Keep up the therapy and maybe this thought you're having is more about a sign that you are really wanting to make some new friendships. You could work on that now in therapy.
The future is a preferred playground for my own anxiety psycho ticks and the "What if. . ." scenarios are the preferred psycho swings on that playground. I can what if my way to La La Land quicker than I can find my way back. Much quicker. The return trip is always harder than the fall.
As much as I wish I had an accurate crystal ball to tell me the future, all I really have to work with are the facts of this day. It's enough when I let it be.
When my youngest sister got married, their best man was my son. The best man is often the closest friend of the groom, or sometimes brother or relative but they chose my son which is the bride’s nephew.
When the time comes that you decide to get married, you can get anyone close to you like a brother or any relative.
It's good to hear that you are okay in making new friends. Continue to share, we are here for you. God bless.
