Get hydrated. If you are mildly dehydrated, just the thought beginning is enough to start the usual roller coaster ride, especially when you're already "wondering".
Move around. Exercise. Do something physical, whether it's walking a short distance, tapping your toes, touching your hands. This will help the anxiety symptoms to go away naturally fast.
Breathe. Count your breathing. This will help you find the balance.
Learn how your anxiety works for you. (Yes, it does work for you, it got you to the doctor to get checked out). Keep a journal to help you connect the thought patterns and sensations and symptoms. You will also find what works best when.
Practice in front of mirror with a saying that you can use every time you think "wondering" thoughts.
