I am at the shore, (I really LOVE It down here) Where I have been since late May, and like to stay till the end of October.
Anyway, My Mother and Father are down for the week, My Mom Gave me a choice when she came down.......My cusin is getting married October, 15th of this year (Who I hardly see anymore) I feel like I don't know her.....except for a few times, But, she is family.
My mom gave me a choice, wether to stay at the shore (Which I'd Like to do) Or come home and go to this wedding.
I keep thinking that, that is a rhetorical question, and will have to go,
46......And feel like mom still has control over my life.
So, Do You think I'm being selfish, and only thinking of myself and not my family?

just opining. . .
for sure, at 46, it is past time to cut the proverbial apron strings.
It's been harder in the last 2 years to get together with family (or anyone, for that matter! Due to Covid restrictions).
It's up to you, and how you feel about your family in general.... but if there would be other family or friends at this wedding that you *might* enjoy seeing.... then I would say Go to the wedding. Probably would be fun, and you could see some people that you might not get to see again for awhile.
Since you said you'd be at the shore until hopefully the end of October, and the wedding is October 15, then you would only miss 2 weeks of shore time. You still have another 45 days to enjoy the shore, so please enjoy it now, no matter which way you decide.
It's all up to you and how you feel about it. But I kind of agree with @Mary above.... that the shore will always be there and you can always go back again to the shore, but family won't always be there and sometimes it's real nice to see them and have some good memories.
We make choices and live with choices we make, whatever they are. It’s pretty simple in my opinion,
