Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

three years after the domestic upheavals which radically changed the circumstances of my entire life, i am feeling more and more like i have found a sustainable routine. now to believe in it and to resist the lifelong self-sabotage routine. as always, it is somewhere between difficult and impossible to have faith in anything. believing in my own accomplishments remains far more challenging for me than dealing with the dysfunctional chaos i have known for my entire 68 years.
as i gently nudge myself to proceed with small steps and mindful compassion for my human limitations, i find myself contemplating the differences between accepting my human limitations and defending them. seems to me that when i accept my limitations, i usher in self-compassion which allows room for growth and healing. when i defend my limitations, i glorify them to iron walls which can neither be crossed nor moved.
am i making sense? thoughts?

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
and the site kicked me off and the response went into the ether.
I am reminded of my own acceptance of things at times
with the quote from Winston Churchill. He said in so many words - that when you received accolades consider them like
a cigar....you can roll them around in your mouth and appreciate them - but never swallow :) . You're doing great!!
anyhoo. . . thank you for the validation.
for what it's worth
the back arrow key on my web browser often lets me retrieve entries which have been gobbled by the ds digi-goblins.

I remember having a discussion years ago with a friend about belief, what our beliefs were, what we believed in, and it was such a moment of awareness for me, because the only thing I could really profess a true, pure belief in was belief in myself. I don’t mean that in some lofty, philosophical way, or even in a self assured way, but more that I’m here, in the flesh, in my skin, in my head, alive, making choices every day, falling down and getting up, and even in my uncertainty, still doing “it” anyway. There is to me nothing more grounding for me than faith in myself. It doesn’t negate the fear or self doubt I experience but it is the thing that keeps me going, in my moments of fear, of doubt, in my moments of not always being kind to myself.
Not sure if any of this makes sense either but your post resonated with me.
while i was desperate to escape the kiddie whorehouses, accepting my limitations felt like a death sentence. where's my supercape? i need to jump some tall social injustices in a single bound. please let me wake up a virgin icon in the morning.
i love your description of that aha moment where you learned the benefits of grounding in self-faith. believing in myself, exactly the way i am is the route to living out the serenity prayer.
