Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I've never experienced anxiety before in my life and after 4 trips to the er in 2 weeks, blood work, chest cray, ekg, Ecg and a myriad of other tests I've been diagnosed with ptsd and anxiety.
I've never had an easy life per se but I've always been able to overcome obstacles without much emotional damage, or so I'd thought. But the last two years have been filled with so much emotional term oil it's manifested itself into amxiety.
I am struggling with how to deal. I have not been given any medication and some rather shallow coping mechanisms and I'm so overwhelmed.
I suffer from almost constant physical symptoms. My heart actually hurts, I have left side weakness on both my leg and arm, I have slurred speach or stumble over my words rather and lots of aches and pains. Then there are the attacks themselves, averaging one a day sometimes more sometimes less. Those are hard. Feeling a surge of energy and all of my physical symptoms get 100 times worse. I literally feel like I'm on coCaine or something all the time. I have an appt Saturday to help me find a mental health professional so I can begin to address this and get it under control.
I've been reading lots on anxiety and trying different techniques I've read about like breathing exercises.
I think the worst is the feeling of doom. Like will I ever overcome.this and be okay again? Will I go back to "normal"? It's so overwhelming. It's scary and I actually would like to be institutionalized so I can deal with this and move on. Sadly not an option. I have 4 kids who need me. But I feel like I'm failing them right now.
I wish I could just move passed this and feel better. I'm here to learn, vent, cope, and hopefully help.
So that's it in a nutshell I guess. HI. I'm jai lol.

Identifying why I'm anxious and talking to a professional about it who can dissect the situation and really put your mind at peace. Hope all goes well on Saturday :)
Yes, the doom goes. I got rid of it after maybe two or 3 years?
I know that sounds like ages, but it took far less time to fix me than it did to mess me up!
Those physical symptoms can be dealt with "in the moment", and yes, you will have to repeat them often to keep one foot ahead of the other, and know you are not alone in this.
Stay hydrated. Whether you do this with both food and liquid or with a combination meal drink, stay hydrated all the time, including before bed. Mild dehydration in hydration sensitive anxiety situations becomes a firestorm of sensations that drive you going in all directions to get comfortable again.
The slurring, the numbness, the weakness are all normal along with the surge of energy sensation overload. You've gone on until you released all of your reserves, so now when you get some fuel, it revs you up full speed ahead. The best thing to do with this is to flow your movement including in the bathroom (trying not to give too much information). Sit on toilet with your toes pointed, so your knees are above your hips, and relax. Sometimes, this helps release the tension in the back and abdomen, which can make the head, arm and leg feel less overloaded.
You are not alone in this. Best wishes in feeling better!
I've had anxiety (with panic attacks) for 15 years now, but I'll never forget my first few months with the unfamiliar sensations: rapid heartbeat, sweaty palms, clammy skin, blurred vision, and an overwhelming sense that something terrible was happening or about to happen. You're not alone, and rest assured that it does get better.
In the meantime, try to be gentle with yourself. What you're experiencing is definitely scary - especially since it's new. I don't think you're failing your kids. If anything, you're showing them how to cope with a difficult experience by finding out what resources are available, finding a professional to talk to etc.
For some people, anxiety is just a blip on the radar. And I hope that's the case for you. For me it's something I've had to manage for the last 15 years (sometimes better than others), but I can tell you with certainty that it can get better. :)
