I would think a specialist could diagnosis that?

Yesterday in the ER was a nightmare! I arrived at 1:30pm and didn't get in a room in the ER until 10pm! Then I had to wait until around 1am to see a doctor! He ordered abdominal x-rays, I gave him a urine sample, couldn't give him a stool sample, and he did blood work. He said the x-ray showed a lot of stool in my colon and a lot of air. Blood tests and urine specimen were normal so no infection. He said maybe the hard stool is irritating the lining of my bowel causing the bleeding but he can't be sure. He referred me to a gastroenterologist and said they would call me. He said to come back if the pain gets worse and spread around my back. I had three pieces of pizza earlier before I left. They were small pieces from a party sized pizza. I had a little to drink. They wouldn't let me drink or eat the entire time I was at the ER in case they needed my stomach to be empty for certain tests or surgery. I only had a little water when they gave me some tylenol and once when a nurse gave me a small cup of water. They wanted to use the vein on the back of my hand for an iv line and to get blood. They could get blood from it but not use it as an iv. Another nurse tried to get an iv on the inside of my arm but the vein blew causing an immediate bruise, she tried further up in the same arm but that vein blew as well. She also tried on the inside of my right arm but it wouldn't work either but at least it didn't blow and bruise. Finally another nurse put an iv line on the side of my left wrist which worked but they never needed to use it so all of that pain from blown veins for nothing! I finally was discharged from the ER at 3:00 am but didn't get home until after 3:30am! :( I'm eating slowly and drinking today but I feel sick, my head is pounding, abdominal pain is back, and I feel very weak. I hope the gastroenterologist doesn't take long to book an appointment. I'm so worn out!

The clear liquid diet I started yesterday seems to be helping make the pain less and this morning I have no pain. I'm going to try to do the diet at least until Sunday then hopefully be able to slowly add low fiber foods. I wish it wasn't Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday because then the specialist would be in their office on Monday! I'm vegetarian and don't really do anything for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinners anyway. I have no contact with my family and my boyfriend's family lives 2 hours away.

I'm sorry you're feeling poorly over your thanksgiving...they do have chicken bullion :) Or beef!

Yes but I don't eat any type of meat broth or bullion. I had to go off of the liquid diet because it caused too much bloating, nausea, and dizziness so I'm back to square one.

Abdominal pain was gone for a while but now it's back. :( I left two messages at the specialist's office but haven't received a call back.

They don't answer the phone? You can only leave messages? How far away are they that perhaps a personal visit might get their attention!

The specialist called back today. I have a colonoscopy scheduled for this coming Wednesday at 1:45pm. My boyfriend has to do take the entire day off of work because they won't do the colonoscopy unless stays in the waiting room the entire three hours I am there. We take a taxi to the hospital and a taxi back. I'm not looking forward to the bowel prep nor the colonoscopy itself. I'm not sure how far away his office is since I haven't been there.

Well hopefully you can have it done ok and clear you out like roto-rooter :)

I hope so. I'm really anxious about the prep and that the pain medication won't be enough for it not to hurt. I wish they would just knock me out completely. They supposedly are using fentanyl and versed. I wish they would use propofol because someone told me they didn't remember anything and only groaned in pain a couple of times!

It is I-I could either leave footprints/crumbs or make a fart and leave the smell :)

Sorry I haven't posted on here in a while. My abdominal pain and digestive issues have been really bothering me. Chest, abdominal, and pelvic ct scan with contrast. I have to take prednisone and benadryl because I'm allergic to the contrast. I have to drink the contrast mixed with juice. Ct scan is Monday. Tuesday I go to see the gastroenterologist. Today my asthma and allergies are acting up along with my stomach.

I would hug you darknessemb..but I don't want to cause your tummy any more pain..so how about a gentle pat on the head and a smile :)
