Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Don't worry, i am not here to heckle but that would be an interesting passtime. What do you do in your freetime? I heckle alcoholics!
I am happy to report i have broken the barrier of (sound!!) 3 week slide. I made it through the recent holiday sober, though i did gamble away my car insurance payment. It's whack-a-mole with my addictions, yo. Despite that unwelcome lapse of good judgment, i am feeling pretty good about myself that i am maintaining.
I am mostly home in lockdown, kids schools are closed up. In our shopping trips, which are a huge production these days.. I see the holiday liquor displays. There's a Milkshake Stout Sampler pack that is like dessert in a can that is high octane there. There's the gift sets with pretty wrapping and free glasses or mugs or sample shots.
These packagings are designed to exploit people like us. The whole thing about "to celebrate there needs to be booze" . Screw all that. We don't need a drink to endure our co-workers at the zoom Christmas party or whatever tf people are doing.
Obviously people want that excuse, want to show their co-workers who they really are in the most unflattering of behavior. Don't do it!! You're better than all that.
I can't let the sparkle draw me in. What am i? A bird? Make it catch the light and i pick it up? Marketing brain washes us to buy into a fantasy that denial is better, escape is better.
Reality is better. It might not always be great, but it is not fake. It is yours to make what you need to find real happiness, not the illusion in a bottle.

It's going to get hotter here with Thursday being the hottest. It's noon and 75f feels more like 80 or more.I've been cleaning up the deck in this morning and cleaning the windows outside. Then I cut up a pallet in half, I've decided to call it quits now because I went a bit light headed. Joanne, some drugs we take have an effect on us in the heat, I know a couple of mine do, maybe yours...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Well done on your continued commitment. My life keeps getting better w/o the alcohol, yours will too.
I started sobriety in November three years ago and going through the holidays was a bit of a challenge. Mostly imagining that festive bottle of Gran Mariner. But then came the post New Years flood on this site of folks taking the hundred day challenge and such and I was glad that I already had some time behind me.
But now I know that I had a lifetime worth of alcohol and I’m done. Like the Skynand song; ‘I drank enough whiskey to turn a battleship around’
The addiction transfer is real and It took me a few years to get that in check. The first year, along with having a higher libido from sobriety, I had sex on my mind a lot. Conveniently my wife was mid menopause so that wasn’t very productive:) Walking and exercise has been amazing to refocus that, ‘I need something to put all this energy into feeling’ Now I am fairly balanced. Even let coffee and sugar go except for the occasional treat.
Was really glad that I had stopped smoking pot years before because that could have been a problem.
I do AA....have you thought of getting to a supportive non drinking room of AA? Coffee is usually hot and also now we have online zoom meetings....look in your yellow pages online for Alcoholics Anonymous if you really want to grow from where you hit that bottom to a new sober life that will blow your mind....
That was the moment that I knew what I had to do. No words of apology could have been better than what my sobriety has given them. Weather you work a program or your own (me) you will come to some kind of amends. But first get yourself right and put down the guilt so that it doesn’t become an excuse to hide. Sobriety is facing ourselves and accepting ourselves.
Just the way you are. One day at a time is how you will change.
it started with me and only me can start the change.
i appreciate get myself right first., put down the guilt ..that is what i needed to hear. i do and have done so much for everyone, drinking is my go to for relaxing, but that turns to (bleep) real fast. i will try all your suggestions i may not like myself today, hopefully i will learn how to cope with everything especially since covid crap and lockdowns i may love myself and sobriety will be my normal and happiness will soon be my normal as well. i cant thank you enough.
She did have a friend by the name of ChrisAZ who I think would have been here at one time.
My friend was a friend of hers at one time. I am soooo worried about her. xoxo
Christmas: Well you ruined another holiday... you got so blotti and called me names and etc etc.
Easter: another holiday ruined
It went on and on...
I never told her I found these , but reading how much I had fked up many many times was the fuel that kept me in the sober lane.
It is tough at first and honestly I don’t know how I made it ( yes I do AA ) but if you can just break the habit and then make it until things get better and you can see how bad it was , and the REaL key is not returning .... the toughest part of all
My journey began in June of 2012. Today I still get some urges but I stay close to people that are still in the fight and know I DONT Want to go back to daily boozing.
At some point it’s the feelings and emotions that I have to go thru without a filter,
BooZe will kill me with one sip, that I can guarantee you.

Those pretty bottles and packages are still just rat poison ☠️
The minute I start to see the liquid i side as ... romantic.. nostalgic.. I’ve already lost
I have to imagine myself with a hammer of Thor ... beating back all those armies of blue and green bottles. I’m the Viking Thor... I bust them all and it’s so relieving
