I find it silly that willpower is listed as a 74% effective treatment for alcoholism. I guess i was part of the 26% that it was not good whatsoever for. If I were to rely on my own willpower i would be drunk as hell as I typed this.

God's will is written in the 12 Steps. God's will is not a mystery as some seem to think. The actions of the Steps would be God's will for us drunks.

Basdist - there is a big difference between using willpower in other ares of life and using it to stay sober. I have always been pretty strong willed but it did me no good at all where trying not to drink was concerned.

It is suggested in Step 3 of the 12x12 that we alcoholics use our willpower to learn and apply the Steps in our lives thats all.

The actions of the Steps encompass most if not all of our daily activities.

Our surrender in the First Step leaves us with a deep need to believe that we can recover. This surrender makes it possible for us to feel hope. By admitting our own powerlessness, we open our minds to an entirely new idea: the possibility that something greater than ourselves might be powerful enough to relieve our obsession to use drugs. It is quite likely that, before coming to NA, we never believed in any power but our own willpower, and that had failed us. NA introduces us to a new understanding. We draw hope from this understanding and begin to comprehend what it means to believe that a Power greater than ourselves can restore us to sanity. We find additional hope by listening to other recovering addicts. We can relate to where theyve been and draw hope from who theyve become. We listen closely at meetings and become willing to apply what we hear to our own lives. As we begin to believe that there is hope for us, we also begin to trust the process of recovery.

I believe, for me, it's like this...I WILL make a Choice to drink or not drink. WILL she or wont she. Either way, I've made a Choice. I think what I have is called 'KidPower', because it's my kids that I actually got sober for. It's for me now, but they sure did keep me WILLing!

Now I do know the Man to go to when I need strength to carry on with my choice, so I know too that God, yes God, is the one who helps me as well as others...and God does help those who help themselves.

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
