Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
financial hardship (see above)
When I was on the phone with medicaid and his worker there was out and the supervisor would only take voice mail then assigned a different worker to handle his case who said I had to have a recent pay stub of his which meant i had to drive to his house to find one.....I thought how nice it would be to have some vodka to go with the lemonade my husband was guzzling and then laughed at myself for even having the thought!
This was in one afternoon last week (above paragraph).
I haven't even had to overcome anything yet. Just daily crap and various moments of insanity. No good reasons to drink. I am just forgetting that I can't.
Thanks all.
I wish my alcoholic father was enough to keep me from picking up in the first place, but I guess this is my path. Good for you to remain strong. xo
I am told that our HP only gives us what we can handle in any one day and my HP still has me growing and getting used to sobriety.
I like what TG said before and I am a believer in that too about staying spiritually well.
Hey, today we will all get to bed without a drink (I am off now) so....you are a survivor every day HTL...you have a life threatening disease and you have found a solution that works (just keep being willing, honest and open).
You go gal :)
Why not?
Step 2: "Come to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity".
I'm not insane today.
Why would I drink?
That would be insane...
Hugs,
Dennis
Through AA I finally built me a 1000 piece sears craftsman tool box equipped for any type menopausal mood swing.
i guess if BAD things were to make one want to drink - here are a few - but for me it's just the opposite - as much as drinking brought me down - when and if I consider drinking it's more in a celebratory manner
1. a horrible marriage - which included prison time for him in additional to jail time and parole - prior to that a major injury - never being employed - still active in his disease, sociopath, driving me to the point of almost complete insanity prior to divorce
2. Father's death, 5 weeks later 2 major c-seetion with my son, 8 weeks later grandmother's death
3. Financial destruction - exh helped wipe out an inheritance
4. Discovering my son is ASD/OCD and having to take this task - basically single handed
5. Having to work from home (inability to recover financially) due to autism
6. lots of counseling for co-dependency, drug and alcohol addiction and spiritual counseling, anger management counseling (SLAPS OF REALITY MAKES YA WANT TO DRINK)
======== so the good things that would make me want to celebrate are:
1. Divorcing and sanity recovery from that
2. My amazing daughter - her accomplishments at a young age
3. My manimal's amazing complishments in a little over 2 years
4. Maintaining employment in this economy
5. I always feel HAPPY - and at at PEACE - and sometimes I just feel like i want to celebrate that
Peace!
8 months into sobriety I had to preach my Father in laws funeral. Hydraulic jack collapsed and killed him instantly while he was working on his old truck. I was reminded what I had said in treatment somewhere, "That I had no reservations to drink." Although it was a tragedy, it was a pivotal point in my recovery. Excellent post HTL!!
life is hard. no doubt about that but i no longer have to go it alone as i've a family (aa) of unconditional love and support who walk with me through every trial, every tribulation each and every single day.
