Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I really don't know where to start, I'm 44 married for the 2nd time. This time to the right one. I have 2 of the best sons a 15yr old and a 3 yr old. I ruined Thanksgiving for everyone this yr, and now I ruined Christmas. by bein drunk. I can now admit I have a problem. desire the disconnect , not from the world now I realize I desire the disconnect from me. I can no longer be this person my family deserves better I deserve better. I just haven't figured out yet how to function long term sober. I usually can go months on end not drinking and be ok. Then snap I go on a bender, I wake up before everyone and do shots and smashed by 10. I really don't realize i'm doin it. I'm done bein this guy. you see I drive a beer truck for a living. I know ironic right. not really. I have no desire for beer, no desire to be in a bar. It's all liquer. Any tips?

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

If you would like to check out meetings, there are online options. SMART Recovery lists online meetings on their website. AA also has online meetings.
Happy sober new year! Glad you are doing well and are able to enjoy being with your family. Sobriety is pretty great, isn't it?
I would be able to quit for a week and start feeling better, forget about how bad I felt or how much trouble I had gotten into. It took having a schedule and some people to be accountable to that gave me the extra umph to get 2 1/2 years.
Happy. Sober and happy. That's a miracle in my book.

The time would always come when the pressure would build to be SO great that I HAD to drink. Now today somehow I can lower the pressure without booze.
You can google meetings in your area!
Good Luck!
