Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I have forgotten this word. I've forgotten why i decided to put down the drink in the first place. All those great feelings i had during the first few months?? Distant memories... it's been almost a year now. I am sober. But i don't feel sober. I feel frustrated, angry and completely overwhemled. Why is so hard to just take a day at a time? Or even a moment at a time? And why am i still behaving in such a way that makes me dislike myself? I thought i was on the right track... ready to deal with life on life's terms. Ans now that i have a life( i went back to school), it's too friggen HARD!! Please, if you can, remind me of this word and what it means to you, so maybe i can recapture what i once felt... because maybe i am becoming too slack with my sobriety. And i know that's a dangerous thing to do. Anyways, i just needed to get that off my chest, so thanx in advance for your input.

With your children, your life will not be easy or simple for quite a few years. However, I would suggest you keep working to make soberiety your number one goal. For me, things always got worse when I drank. I just took a long long time to realize that.
Good luck.
Some of us would rather live in denial, and medicate to deal with these pains, therefore never having serenity.
Recovery is learning how to find peace of mind while accepting life as the way it is. Life is unfair, uncontrolable and unpredictable. When we become willing to face the hurt in our life and comsider how we have reacted to it, then our discomfort can lead us to break the destructive cycle. Then we can learn to be content with the things we cannot change.
Wisdom from a few different books,, thanks for letting me share.
You say that you have to battle life - why?? Life is not a battle although the things that it throws at us can be hard.
Life is not something to be battled or endured it is to be lived, when spiritual principles are practiced we tend to be able to match calamity with serenity.
