The title of this article alone shows the bias is portrays. The article isn't about billionaires at all. It's about "carried interest" by investment partnerships. A tad bit of difference between taxing billionaires and taxing investment partnerships wouldn't you say?

I believe the article specifically referre to guys who buy whole companies and "fix them up" and sell them for a profit, claiming capital gains and getting away paying less than half tax on the profits,.

Hey, does that mean we can all pay the same taxes on our "invested" retirement funds? I manage my own and I'd love to pay a flat 35% on the income from that vice the sliding scale available when I retire. That way more could get their "fair share" of my money brfore I die instead of after.

On the serious side, as rick 8 says 27 of the mentioned billionares make their money in the private equity investment market as an investment manager. The law will tax that income as normal income vice the hideous tax loophole used for those ill-gotten capital gains that some of us may exploit by investing our money in companies that make a profit..

actually, the industries the government favors via tax deductions tend to have a habit of crashing: Wall street and Real esate for example. Now we are damn near forced to invest in the market via tax rules. Sooo when the super rich needed a bailout they had leverage on us to support the bailout. when we bravely refused, the bought and paid for politicans just did it anyway. !
The US government has absolutely no business favoring one industry over another.

BTW, I do hate the tax law. I'm all for repeal of the 16th Ammentment and running this country like a "Unuion of states" again
