Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hi.
New here and day 2 of not drinking. Hoping read some of your journey and get some inspiration.
I realize I have a problem and Life is too beautiful to hide behind a bottle. It started during my last marriage. I'm almost divorced now and last 2 years have literally been a blur.
I drink till I black out nearly every night. Wake up go to work and wait till the afternoon to repeat the cycle. Rinse and repeat. I have lost some really good friendships over my behavior and alcohol. I had a friend intervene and we no longer talk though I'm trying to mend that friendship. Writing this is is taking everything out of me. Realizing & Admitting that I have a problem is really tough as I'm sure you all can relate.
Anyway, wishing everyone the best in their recovery and hoping I can build my strength here.
Much love.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Day 2 for me as well:)
Welcome to the group!!

You are very welcome to the forum. I can certainly relate to how tough it is to realize and admit that you have a problem so you have made a good start in doing that.
The next big step is to move from admitting it to accepting the problem. If you are an alcoholic (and only you can make that call) then you cannot drink safely, end of story. Alcoholism is a progressive condition and it will always get worse with time, even progressing when the alcoholic is not drinking.
I am an alcoholic and my default setting was to drink so I had to do something to change that. For me it was and is Alcoholics Anonymous but there are also other methods. I hope you will find one that works for you.
I stopped drinking using the one day at a time philosophy. I will not drink today matter how strong the urge is to drink. I set long goals. Each day I say I will not drink today.

Two days is a great start! Things can be tough at the beginning, but they will get better, I can promise you that! Please let me know if I ever be of assistance. You have a great resource here among the members and wish you continued success!

Please keep coming back.
I want to cry my head off but the wine is suppressing it. Thank God. I'll be back at Day #2 again at some point I'm sure. I just lack support in all avenues of my life.
for everyone and anyone that responded- I'm SO grateful. Thank you. Not sure what to do with myself tonight... but it's definitely the very thing we are ALL trying to avoid. I'll check back.
Much love and sincerely- THANK YOU!
Gentle, comforting hugs.
Today is a new day -- get back on track, get rid of all the wine, and get started on the life you deserve -- sober.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers
